Wonderful
Charming hotel within easy walking to train and bus stations and center city. Hotel staff was attentive and friendly.
Odd shaped bathroom in the original building was a work around but the room was comfortable.

Exceptional
The interior decor of the hotel was gorgeous! Lobby area was super comfy with gorgeous decor, comfy couches and chairs with lots of pillows. Botanical artwork on the walls that I would love for my home.
The included breakfast buffet was very good, from the hot dishes to order, to the Buffett of fruits, toast, croissants, etc., everything was great. Nice touch: you can get a full Irish breakfast or a petite Irish.
I would have loved a wash cloth.

Very Good
The Metropole is a fine, old hotel with a great staff.
The towels are like sandpaper. This is a very fixable problem. Ease up on the industrial detergent.

Good
The restaurant and bar was fantastic. The location was fantastic. Staff was great.
The heat isn't controlled by room so we were quite cold. Furthermore, some of the people in our party couldn't get their water to warm up no matter how long they ran it. But maybe that's normal for Cork? First time being here.

Great location and a clean place. Bar was excellent.
Rooms were tiny. They were listed on the web page as elegant. Only modern amenities were electricity and running water.

Poor
The bed was comfortable, the location was good
It was noisy and dirty. The room had no air con so had to sleep with window open, and it was directly over the loading bay, so I was woken up at 4am by the sound of lorries/vans being unloaded and trollies being wheeled. The room was also not very clean - dirt on the drawer fronts and on the walls by the bathroom.

Wonderful
The location, the lobby was very nice. The breakfast was really good and staff were very friendly & helpful
The rooms are chilly even with the heat all the way up. I’m always cold so this is mostly a me problem. But I like to be warm.

Wonderful
Good location in a hotel with character and personality. A lovely relaxed feeling but with a sense of old fashioned sophistication. Restaurant was busy but served good food with friendly staff. Room I booked was "cozy" but well equipped, perfect for a one night stopover. It was as expected for this style of older building.

Right downtown Cork. Lots of pubs and stores within walking distance
Couldn’t figure out towel warmer. Water pressure wasn’t great

Lovely breakfast menu and setting.
Noisy in the morning and too warm to close the window. Disappointed I couldn’t have a shower as there was no hot water. Informed receptionist and hopefully the next guest will have a better experience

The location and the room were nice.
No fan in the room and the shower didn’t drain right.

Very Good
We like Cork and had stayed in the hotel before. We had an issue with cold water in the shower and the hotel moved us to another room.
Having to move room.though the new one was just next door and a bit bigger. Also there was no pool despite advertising that there was. It has been closed for a few years.

Ruairi on Reception was lovely - helpful and efficient, and friendly.
Early check in requested was granted, which was super helpful.
Music in lobby too loud
One receptionist (female) appeared to be quite aggressive in her manner (to the guest checking in beside me). A very poor first impression.
Elevator too slow.
Corridors to my room were absolute bedlam with carts everywhere when I arrived.
Lunch in lobby (Turkey Club) was very ordinary and came with 4 crisps.
Towel rail in bathroom was not working; sink not draining (Room 222)
