Location
Check in was a business transaction. I expected a greater level of welcome. Failed to offer champagne (readily available on a tray) at check in. No shower (razor and or cream) available at fro t desk. Don’t forget your toiletries.

Wonderful
The decor in the hotel was nice and the staff were friendly The location was great as you were right in the heart of Cork city, so really close to the bars and restaurants The beds were very comfortable There was air con in the rooms, which I loved as it was very warm The bathrooms were a good size with plenty of counter space
There was always queues at reception. The staff were very friendly, but it took 10 minutes to check in each guest so there was a long line at check in and again at check out. I don't think the staff were trying to take a long time but we queued for 25 minutes to check in and then again for around 15 / 20 minutes to check out. We went into the bar to grab a drink when we arrived on Saturday afternoon, but there was queues of people waiting at the bar to be served. There was only one bar staff actually serving, even though there were three bar staff behind the bar itself, however the other two bar staff were not serving customers.

Poor
The entrance was very grand and lovely.
Difficult to park anywhere near considering we were both disabled. Our room was quite small and tired looking. I appreciate that the building is old but our floor slanted and was uneven, so most of the time we felt like we were on a ship whilst manoeuvring around from bedroom to bathroom or to exiting the room. In fact we both fell into the wall twice! This was more of a problem/challenge for us as we have mobility issues. The bathroom was extremely dirty and dated, there was no separate shower head to wash yourself down, and the shower head that was there was not very powerful so showering took twice as long! Dirty tiles, mold all around shower cubicle. Dirt around sink tap, dirt around toilet and base of toilet - not what you expect from a 4* hotel! See attached pics. Nowhere to place any toiletries/makeup in the bathroom. No cosmetics mirror to do make up or for mens shaving. Dust over most surfaces including lamps - see pic Afternoon tea was very below average - not depicted like the website photos - see pic attached - we asked for no salmon and was given salami as a substitute without consultation (a very odd substitute what about cheese, egg, chicken, tuna - salami is a very odd choice and not one we appreciated) Too much mustard in the Serrano ham sandwiches. Scones were bland and not clotted cream just squirt cream that was watery from sitting out. Disappointing afternoon tea. Given a cracked cup and teapot (should be out of circulation as breeds bacteria) Breakfast - probably worst we’ve had which again was very disappointing considering we are well travelled. Over cooked and appeared to be reheated and was inedible in our opinion. Had planned to use the spa but based on the cleanliness of our room we did not feel confident that the spa would be safe. I have more pics but can only add 4
