Beautiful converted hospital on the heights above Cork.
Ridiculous room with ancient furniture and 11 metres (I paced it) from headboard to TV. And that TV had a handful of working channels. Casting from phone didn’t work.
Bathroom fixtures were loose. I could turn angle of taps.
No face cloths.
Good breakfast. Staff were nice. But rooms need overhaul, badly.

Attractive looking building at top of hill with car parking and pleasant outdoor seating area adjacent to bar.
Beyond the stunning reception hall, the hotel is generally poorly-managed, poorly-maintained, under-staffed and in need of some serious investment. Bedroom corridors and bedrooms are shocking. Bedroom was small, grubby, stale smelling and generally unclean/unmaintained (bulb blown, chipped, marked finishes, filthy dirty stained carpet, dirty interface between wall and floor in bathroom, tired, over-washed towels, overly-worn, stained upholstery to chairs). Poorly appointed (no desk/dressing table - just a shelf housing a coffee machine). Noisy with people shouting below window and in corridors. Poor sound insulation: we could here TV/noise from neighbouring room, doors slamming in corridors and worst of all (given that the hotel clearly states 'no dogs'), a dog(s) barking and howling in adjacent room at intermittent intervals throughout the night and into the early hours. Breakfast poor - how do you manage to get dishes as simple as porridge and omelette so wrong, let alone serve it!? We had paid for three nights but left after one and in fact, should have left as soon as we saw the room: we could not have stayed another night there without it spoiling our holiday. It certainly spoilt our first night in Cork. We were not refunded and the receptionist did not express surprise at our early departure or ask whether we'd enjoyed our stay or question our early departure...hard to know if that was indicative of poor training or a general acceptance that the accommodation is appalling and people normally leave early. The room should not have been offered to guests and certainly not at that price. I might suggest the owner spends a night there and see how acceptable they find it.

Nice, clean room. Walking distance to the downtown area.
They need to provide something other than a heavy blanket for the bed. Even a sheet would work.

Staff were not very pleasant :( During breakfast, we stood waiting for a seat while a staff member (an older lady with red hair) strolled past us multiple times without acknowledging us. A simple “I’ll be with you in one moment” would have sufficed. After finally taking our order, we witnessed her be extremely welcoming and helpful to other guests waiting for a seat. We understand being busy, but her attitude should have been the same with EVERY guest then. She cleaned off other guests’ dirty plates while ignoring our table until another staff member cleaned off our table. This confirmed for us that she did not want to wait on us.
Other incident with staff^^ When checking in, a blonde lady staff member was not very welcoming and quite short with us. She kinda glanced at us like we were lost and not in the right place.
The whole ordeal felt prejudiced and I don't EVER use that word lightly. Management was notified and I hope that behavior is corrected as NO paying guest should feel ostracized or less than.
Room. Very big however the shower didn't drain so water made its way out of the bathroom literally flooding the floor… We were told that’s because the building is old and there's nothing they can do :/
Food. Lunch was decent however the club chicken sandwich was on HARD toasted bread and the chicken was boiled/bland. Breakfast wasn’t good. The buffet wasn't stocked properly. And the omelette, I ordered tasted bland and cold. They don't appear to source their food locally as I saw a Sysco truck ):
We don't recommend anyone coming here, and we won't be returning.

We had a nicely appointed room with a walk up balcony with a nice view of Cork City.
Beds were comfortable. Bathroom always had hot water for showering. All fixtures worked. Hotel front Staff were friendly and very helpful. Bar and Restaurant staff were excellent. Daily Breakfast was delicious.
Parking was challenging. Parked a few times on the street. Not a deal breaker.

The rooms are very spacious and the restaurant was wonderful. It’s a great old hotel that gives you the 1940’s nostalgia feel. Most of the staff was very friendly. As much as walking up the hill gave my thighs & calf muscles a work out, it’s far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre but not so far away it’s hard to access.
The technology was lacking. The WiFi was hit or miss. While in the middle of uploading a book on my iPad, I lost signal and had to go out into the hallway to catch it the signal. It wasn’t very stable. The TV had wavy lines through it and the channels were very limited.

Nice location outside the busy down-core in a neighbourhood area. Room was large and with a nice city view. There is a nice locals pub (no food) close by .Staff were friendly.
It is located up some very steep streets so not ideal for some people who might want to walk. We did also try to have dinner at 8 and were advised to come back in an hour - it looked like they were short staff as there were several open tables. There are no restaurants close by in this area so food options are limited close by.
