Location and staff.
Its hard to explain. It didn't feel like a hotel that should have 4 stars. If its a quick stay then yes otherwise I would not suggest.

The room is beautiful. We loved the furniture, the comfortable bed, the old-fashioned bathroom. We also had a rooftop terrace which was lovely. This place is slept on.

Everything was incredible, the breakfast was delicious and had a good variety. The room was comfortable and spacious. It had its own coffee maker, and many other thoughtful touches.

Honestly everything. From the staff to the location to the awesome view on the opera, to the interior of the room and hotel. We kept admiring this hotel every single day of our stay in Budapest. You can walk to anywhere from the hotel. The airport shuttle bus is 10 minutes walk. Metro is literally 1 minute. Tram is 5. Would 100% stay here again if I were to visit Budapest in the near future

The location was excellent everything was within a 10–15 minute walk, and the Opera House was literally across the street, which was very convenient. The view from the hotel was amazing. The staff were friendly and tried their best to help with any requests. Breakfasts were decent overall
The property can be a bit difficult to find if you don’t carefully read the instructions in advance. The cleaning could definitely be improved the bathroom was not properly cleaned, and there were some hairs left behind. Also, I stayed in a standard Deluxe room, and there was occasionally an unpleasant smell, possibly from humidity or the drainage system. The lunch boxes (if requested) were not very good

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were big and airy. Very large for a typical city hotel. The location in Budapest is exceptionally central; the metro is right outside, but you can walk everywhere. The view of the Opera House from the hotel is marvelous. The hotel is very clean, breakfast is decent, and it’s very good value for your money.
The hotel is an old building, so naturally there are some maintenance issues, but the staff is very fast to act. So, I wouldn't say it's a big issue

This was hands down the most charming hotel I have ever stayed in. Callas House has a beautiful historical elegance that you simply don’t find in most hotels anymore, yet it still offers all the modern comforts you could want. From the moment I walked in, it felt warm, intimate, and thoughtfully curated—more like staying in a refined private residence than a hotel.
What truly sets Callas House apart, however, is the staff. Every single person I encountered was exceptionally kind, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. They went out of their way to accommodate every need I had, always with warmth and professionalism, making me feel truly cared for rather than just checked in.

We’re returning guests to Callas House and our experience was even better the second time!
We really appreciate the thoughtful reception lady who provided excellent service (apologies I forgot the name). We got the same room like last time and all I can stay it was amazing! Highly recommended.

Wonderful
We took the suite (room 61) and it was so large! We loved the balcony overlooking the street and city. It was very cold but we did spend some time there, I assume that on nicer weather this is amazing to sit with coffee and a book.
Room was cleaned every day and was very clean in general, well done!
Location is great, just above a metro line (M1) and walking distance to Deak Ferenc Ter and to many restaurants/bars
Breakfast is simple and good; don't expect huge buffet but do expect a good decent breakfast
Lady at the front desk super-nice and friendly - we felt very good from the check-in to check-out.
Elevator is slow
But really - nothing that I didn't like

The rooms are beautifully decorated and just what I was hoping for from a boutique hotel. The concierge was friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and extremely accommodating. The view from the windows was lovely, too.
I can't say that there was anything I didn't like. The rooms were very clean, and the linens were crisp.
On our last night, we were not sure where to eat dinner, and the concierge made a reservation for us at an authentic Hungarian restaurant nearby.
