Wonderful
The hotel is located within Diocletian's Palace - about as central as one can get.
Breakfast was taken outside the hotel entrance and overlooking Peristil Square / Courtyard.
Very friendly and competent staff.
The hotel does not have a lift

Location and support of staff when I had an early departure - packed breakfast, smiles, and help getting at taxi.
Loved the second stay - I stayed a week before, and after our trip to the Dalmatian Islands, and the second time I was had a fabulous double bed with a view of the silver gate.

Loved being right in the palace compound to enjoy the area before and after the crowds. The hotel is very nice with old world charm. The staff are all very nice and friendly. Excellent breakfast.

Location
My stay at Hotel Peristil was a completely disappointing experience, full of misleading information and unacceptable behavior from the staff.
Unprofessional Arrival: Upon arrival, the hotel employee met me outside the entrance smoking a cigarette. Before even welcoming me, he rudely asked who I was and what I wanted, all while standing right outside the entrance with a cigarette in his mouth.
Misleading Room Specifications: Despite booking and paying for a room with a double bed, I was assigned a room containing only a single bed. When I raised the issue, the host was defensive and argumentative, stating that a double bed costs more and asking how I expected a double bed to fit into a 12 m² room.
No Elevator & Rude Staff: The hotel has no elevator—a crucial detail omitted from their listing. After hauling my heavy luggage up to the 3rd floor, I asked if a room on the 1st floor was available. The staff member rudely replied, "here we use our legs."
Misrepresentation of Parking: The property advertises "Private Parking," but in reality, they only have access to 3 spaces on a public sidewalk with manual barriers, charging an outrageous €30. I had to park in an underground garage for €25 instead and pay an extra €5 for a taxi back to the hotel.
Terrible Breakfast Quality: The breakfast was unacceptable. The butter was completely melted, kept at a temperature well above the maximum 8 °C specified on its own packaging. Although the menu listed both eggs and yogurt, I was told I had to choose only one or the other. To top it off, the orange juice was low-quality processed juice and the coffee was dreadful.
A hotel that shows total disregard for basic courtesy, misrepresents its amenities, and offers such poor service is entirely overpriced. Avoid at all costs.

Excellent location. Enjoyed being inside the historical palace. Friendly staff/owner. Lovely breakfast.
I wasn’t prepared for the multiple bell towers starting at 6am through 7am but we needed to be up early so it was fine. Upon leaving we noticed a mouse had gotten into some electrolyte packets left in my empty suitcase but we never encountered it during our stay

Amazing location connected to the old city wall. Central to everything in Split. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Really nice breakfast with a million dollar view of the palace.
Very little to dislike. It does not have an elevator. It is only four stories but that could be an issue for someone with limited mobility.
