Overall, our stay at the Kempinski Hotel Accra was a 5-star experience, made even better by the outstanding team members like Dede and Eunice. Their professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail truly set this hotel apart. I highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Accra. It’s the perfect combination of luxury and exceptional service, and we can’t wait to return.

We were required to put our bags through a metal detector /scanner every time we entered the hotel. I've never experienced that outside of an airport so it was off-putting.

Staff were nice and food by the pool was lovely
I booked a 5-night stay at Kempinski hoping for a relaxing, luxurious break, with the intention to extend if I enjoyed the facilities. Unfortunately, the experience was the complete opposite.
From the moment I entered my first room, there was a strong damp, mouldy smell. This was immediately noticed by both myself and my friends who live locally. Due to it being late at night, I waited until the morning to report it.
Over the course of my stay, I was moved multiple times and shown over 8 rooms in total. Every room had some level of damp smell, especially noticeable when the air conditioning was turned on. In several rooms, the shower drains also had a strong unpleasant odour.
I eventually noticed dehumidifiers placed throughout the hotel hallways, which suggested that the hotel is already aware of ongoing damp and moisture issues. As someone with asthma, this was particularly concerning for me.
On my third day, I attempted to check out early for health reasons. I was told by staff that I could not leave because the booking was non-refundable, despite only a card hold being placed and not yet fully charged. I was therefore moved again into a larger, newly renovated room, which was the best of the options but still not ideal.
The following morning, I was woken at 8am by loud construction noise from the room next door due to ongoing renovations.
I have stayed at several Kempinski properties in the past and chose this hotel because of the brand’s reputation for luxury and comfort. Sadly, this location does not currently meet that standard, particularly while major refurbishments are ongoing and the damp issues remain unresolved.
Although the staff were consistently polite, kind, and genuinely tried to help, I feel I was misinformed about my ability to leave early. I ultimately became unwell, had to cut my trip short, and believe the prolonged exposure to damp conditions significantly contributed to this.

The service is one of the worst I have experienced in a 5-star hotel, anywhere in the world. The staff are focused on white people, VIPs and celebrities.
If you order water, you will call 5 or 6 times. And the water probably wont come.
They attempted to fine me $500 for smoking in the room (I don't smoke), they also attempted to charge me for an external phone call, that i didnt make.

The spa was phenomenal - both the environment and the therapist. The front desk staff were so helpful and welcoming. Also the manager at the poolside and the guy that mans the desk at the gym, all fantastic.

The room is big, good location, breakfast was rich and so many varieties.
It's not a 5 stars standard, way less, the curtains in the room are not open properly, the drawer is not close , and the closets door is not close properly. They have just one restaurant on the 3rd floor for lunch and dinner. The cafe in the lobby does not have everything , especially snacks and desert. I was disappointed with the facility as kimbenski hotel around the world is much better.
