Disappointing
Good location for La Daille. The free bus stops (to get you OUT of La Daille, or back from elsewhere in Val d'Isere) are directly outside once you get down the steps, and the buses are frequent. Shame about some of the drunk and aggressively obnoxious people going back to their apartments in La Daille, but that's hardly specific to the apartments alone. Although we didn't have too much difficulty parking outside to load/unload, I can imagine it would be different at a busier time. I suspect this place would be more suited to younger / single people or small groups travelling on a plane, rather than a family with a fully loaded vehicle and lots of supplies & equipment to carry. The view from the balcony was lovely. The towel rail in the bathroom was very hot (but - strangely placed over the toilet, so if anything fell off it would fall into or onto the toilet) - although there didn't appear to be any other heating in the place. Toiletries and cleaning products provided. The kitchenette was nice and neat enough. The apartment was clean enough if you ignore the top half of it, which was very dusty. Not been decorated since the nineties, so it's a bit like a time machine which is quite fun. The staff on reception were very nice and helpful. When I arrived I queued behind a family complaining about the state of their room, and the lady on reception appeared to handle the complaint well. This stay was a two day extension to a week long stay in Val d'Isere. We picked this location mainly due to lack of other availability at such late notice for an odd length of time. We're very glad it was available, and getting booked in was a very simple and pleasant process thanks to the friendly, helpful, and efficient staff. But we would have been very disappointed had this been our base for the full week. We were glad to leave in the end.
On the 8th floor, we came out on a snowy outdoor corridor before getting to the apartment - the door thus opens directly to outside. The corridor lights aren't automatic. Which was fine later when we expected it, but on first arrival, loaded up with several bags over shoulders and in both hands, with two small children, we were plunged into darkness as the lift doors shut behind us. The small bunks for children are located right as you open the door, next to a window onto the corridor. This feels unsafe. All beds were uncomfortable. We were here for two of ten nights in the area, and all felt the beds here caused more aches and pains than the full stay's activities. Insufficient storage for our needs so we were constantly tripping over bags and equipment. More suited to single people travelling light than a family bringing a car load of stuff. Doesn't appear to have been decorated or updated since the nineties. As we were only coming from Val d'Isere, we arrived before the usual rush so were able to briefly park outside to unload. However there are only 1 or 2 spaces depending on snowdrifts and it was hard enough to negotiate with other people arriving. At peak times & later in the day this could be impossible. Although we did manage to park, we still had to get our belongings up the outside metal stairs - a struggle especially with children. There's a lift inside so it could have been worse. The price we paid (admittedly a late notice 2-day stay) while not expensive, did not seem good value for the condition of the property. This location is being sold as Val d'Isere but really isn't - it's 2km down the road, and it's a compromise. It seems wrong to ask questions in the review about Val as a whole, it's cashing in on the reputation of the wider area and can be misleading to people expecting Val d'Isere conditions in a tired old block in La Daille.

Good
Great location across from la daille lift, room was warm, functional kitchen with kettle, microwave, 4 ring ceramic hob, fridge, dishwasher. Good bath and shower, nice view with balcony, easy to wash and dry clothes, easy access to parking.
Only 1 toilet roll, have to buy rest yourself, parking is not run by residence so you have to pay 27eur/day, sofa bed very squeaky

Pleasant
Great location, easy access to town via the fee bus which ran every 10 minutes, and beautiful Mountain Views from the living room
The main room and bedroom were very small. The bedroom also looked out onto the main hallway/walkway which meant the curtains had to be closed all week. Also, only one set of towels for the week.

The staff at our accommodation of Rsidence Pierre & Vacances La Daille were very good -they were friendly, helpful and professional; they helped make our visit comfortable and welcoming! The bus service was convenient and reliable, which made it easy to move back and forth between our residence and the main ski area. It was also convenient to have the mini market so close, which we used a lot. The one-one ski instructor for our son, Christine M., from ESF was excellent! She was knowledgeable, patient and helped our young son learn well, and to thoroughly enjoy his ski classes. With Christine's tuition, he is already looking forward to skiing again!
In general the service and people /staff throughout Val D'isere were friendly, helpful and professional. However, we had two very negative experiences in restaurants Lou Lou and Gigi. Our visit to Lou Lou's restaurant for lunch was a treat, as it's an expensive, seemingly exclusive venue. The staff were generally helpful and friendly, and the cocktails were delicious! The ambiance was pleasant /relaxed; and we booked a table by the window, with a view of the ski slopes, which was nice.
However, in one of our main meals, (scallops / St Jacque), we found a very long hair, deep within the dish! We were brought another dish of scallops and were informed that we'd only be charged for one plate of them. This seemed obvious -that we should not be charged for a contaminated dish that we could not /did not consume. When we queried this unpleasant experience, only then did they agree to remove that dish from the bill.
The bottle of wine we ordered was from 2016; they did not have this year, and so instead offered us a 2019 bottle. The year was later, but the price was left at the same high price as the more mature 2016 bottle, (at 80 a bottle).
All three of our dishes were over-salted: -pizza, steak and the scallops. When they removed the dish of contaminated scallops, we mentioned that the replacement should have less salt. Unfortunately it seemed to have slightly more, and thus was difficult / unpleasant to eat.
The steak dishes were under 200gs; whilst the tomahawk was 750g -this meant that the steak dishes were either overly small for an adult main dish, or too large for even two to share!
Lunch in Gigi had unusually poor service and disappointing, bland food. We specifically requested a table by the window when we booked, but were not given one by Marie who seated us, or the manager we asked to speak to -despite there being more than one free window table throughout our lunch.
