Wonderful
Lovely hotel in the heart of the Latin Quarter, and just a few minutes walk from several Metro stations. This traditional hotel was a nice change from corporate chains, with real keys, and even a resident courtyard cat. The room we had was quite small, but adequate for two people. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and it was so nice to have the lounge space to sit and drink tea at the end of the day. The courtyard was picturesque, and I'm sure it would be a wonderful place to linger in fair weather.
The neighborhood was lively, but not loud, and there were quite a few restaurants just a few meters from the hotel entrance. We enjoyed wandering the area, visiting shops, and watching the students at the Sorbonne go about their lives.
We wished we had more time, and we'll definitely return to the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles again!

Good
Nice garden area but we didn’t use it much as weather was poor.
Quite expensive. Small bathroom. Limited suitcase accessibility. Quite far from Paris center but also quiet.

Very Good
It’s beautiful and quiet. Close to 3 metros and buses. It has an elevator which is a plus in Paris.
The building we stayed in needs to be renovated. Smelled mouldy and the electrical was not up to modern standards. No aircon so the room was stuffy and needed the window open all the time and we were there Sept 28-Oct 2. Our samsonite electric plug converter broke off in their ancient plug.

Hidden gem of an old school Parisian hotel vibe. We ended up walking to most of the main attractions.
At first was disappointed there was no TV but by the 2nd day.....was glad there wasn't. It would have ruined the vibe and it really wasn't necessary.

Wonderful
Loved the breakfast being brought to the table -- no dashing dash back and forth to the buffet for all the things you forgot or did not notice were there. Location absolutely perfect, an oasis of quiet in a busy Paris area.
My only real gripe was that the bed did not have a headboard, so it was difficult to sit up and read in bed. We solved it by putting our suitcases there. Lighting in our room could have been better. That there was no TV we knew beforehand, so we read a lot, which initially was not easy because.... see above.

Good
In general, the staff was very nice and accommodating, especially Jimmy.
It has a courtyard charm behind the big door.
The biggest problem is noise from other rooms- no insulation in the walls.
The rooms are small.
I did not particularly like the location either.

Wonderful
It was straight out of a picture book when you envision a “charming, boutique hotel in a non-touristy Parisian neighborhood.” The garden was stunning with loads of potted flowers, wrought iron cafe tables & chairs and a cobblestone path to the gate.
