Very nice boutique hotel, nice amenities and location. Very good breakfast for a hotel with great variety. Gentlemen that were working in the morning were fantastic.
Our AC wasn’t working so we had to have front desk fix it in the middle of the night, also had a light over that bed that wouldn’t fully turn off and the only solution offered was for us to unscrew the lightbulb or be given sleep masks.

The hotel is located a short walk from the Gare St. Lazare and several Metro stops, making it easy to get there without a cab. The hotel has a “literary” theme, as the name implies, and is one of a chain of such hotels in France. This particular iteration celebrates the works of Marcel Proust, whose writings and photos decorate the hotel and its rooms. Books (in French) are provided in every room and in the hotel’s public area for guest use. We rented a “suite,” which had an anteroom with couch, cocktail table, and desk, and bedroom with a double bed and access to a bath and toilet area. The shower includes a bench for those who do not wish to stand while bathing. Basic toiletries were provided, and a good set of towels/washcloths for each guest. The couch in the anteroom folded out to a double bed; the bed was comfortable and not saggy. The room thus can accommodate a maximum of four guests. Most other rooms in the hotel were outfitted for one or two guests. This room overlooked the building’s courtyard, so traffic noise was not an issue. The room had central air conditioning, thankfully for us, since the temperature was around 90 Fahrenheit for several days of our stay. The hotel provides a coffeemaker and coffee and tea in the room. Filtered tap water and carbonated water are provided free of charge round-the-clock on the ground floor of the hotel (decanters are provided for this). There is a refrigerator stocked with items for purchase that can also be used for the guest’s items. A grocery store around the corner from the hotel provides more affordable food and drink options from early morning into the late night. The hotel offers a very good buffet breakfast at a charge to guests, but there are also some cafe options nearby for those who don’t wish to eat in the hotel. Staff were consistently helpful throughout our stay. There are a multitude of relatively inexpensive restaurants for dinner within a short walk of the hotel.
The room could have been better appointed in the bathroom. There was only one hook for a robe or towel, even though there was space on the wall for several more hooks. Also, there wasn’t a place to set cosmetics near the sink area. A small shelf under the mirror could serve this purpose; right now guests are left to place items on the floor, since the edge of the sink is not large enough to accommodate many items. Also, the management might consider including the cost of breakfast in the room rate, especially for those renting suites, which are not cheap. Finally, though the room had two televisions, neither of them had any international media available, so we were left to practice our French to figure out what was going on in the world during our stay. Management might consider adding channels in English, German, and other languages for international guests.

We wanted to enter the hotel early from the check-in time and they said it was 30€. They asked for a tax of +50€ when making the payment. Cleaning is done half. The sheets are changing, the towels remain the same. All the items in the closet in the room are paid, including water. We used it because we thought the water was not included, but they asked for 6€ for each bottle during check-out. Water is sold for 1.5€ in the market, which is 2 minutes walking distance from the hotel. If I come back to Paris, I will not stay at this hotel and I do not recommend it.

Loved it! Great location and amazing view of the streets of Paris :). We want to come back as soon as possible! The staff was really kind and helpful. While the room didn’t have a big balcony, it had a small one where we could place a chair on and enjoy the sunrise and sunset.
Bathroom has a glass door, which is not ideal ..

My stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing. The room was filthy – there was dirty hair in the bathtub, a dirty closet, and stains everywhere. I asked for clean water glasses, and the staff member not only acted reluctant, but actually threw the glasses at me. This level of hygiene and disrespectful behavior is shocking and completely unprofessional. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Avoid if you value cleanliness and basic courtesy.

The hotel is excellent value for Paris. Nice spacious rooms, great lobby, few minutes walk from transport, absolutely stellar staff and employees! Always good to be back.
some items needs deep cleaning and the bathrooms can do with a deep clean too. Everything is clean, but if you are too focused on details you may notice a thing or two that may bother you - it didn't bother me much.
