Precisely renovated in 2023, the Academy offers travelers who stay there a unique hotel experience at the heart of the History of Knowledge. Located in the historic district of Old Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage site, L'Académie offers an ideal location allowing travelers to enjoy direct access to all the tourist activities available to the City of Lyon (museums, monuments, best restaurants and stops…) Designed in a building dating from 1406, this luxury hotel offers 12 rooms and suites in a neat decor inspired by the world of French Academicians who shaped the knowledge of our world. French ceilings, woodwork, solid parquet floors and high-end materials tastefully decorate the rooms and suites of this exceptional establishment. The latter, depending on the category, offer a view of the emblematic cobbled streets of Old Lyon or of a private courtyard. All rooms and suites have private bathrooms. They are air-conditioned, soundproofed and equipped with a TV and free Wi-Fi access. A continental breakfast is served daily for an extra charge. The Academy is also committed to more responsible tourism and is implementing various actions to protect the environment, reduce waste and energy consumption. It has a French window as the main opening and is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Access to the room is via the courtyard of the establishment.

Location is excellent
Our room was very hot, it was room 001. It has no windows for ventilation and management was not able to properly control the issue. They upgraded us for our last day to a suite which was nice and the temperature much better, the internet and Netflix did not work in upgraded room

Wonderful
Amazing location - very convenient to tourist attractions and transit. Lovely building incorporating elements of the original building (stone staircase) while having modern comforts. Room had a window onto the staircase/inner courtyard, not onto the street, so it was quiet. Very comfortable bed.
No ventilation in the bathroom so the bathroom got very steamy and there was a slight musty smell. Despite adjusting the thermostat we were not able to get airflow from the HVAC - we were able to adjust temperature just using the window but that may have been an issue if very hot or very cold.

Wonderful
It was in a great location and very quirky - it had once been a college of fine arts.
No fridge in the room

Pleasant
Location. In old town, beside bars and restaurants, yet quiet.
Room was tiny, and very hard to mange the heat even with air con. Spent all night alternating between too warm, and then too cold. Very unfriendly receptionist. Apart from the girl that was there at check out. Was nice to finally see someone smile!

Very Good
The location was excellent being close to the St Jean area. Comfortable room with lovely shower room. Very quiet, no outside noise. However noise did carry through from adjoining bedroom
Breakfast was repetitive and choices did not reflect website options. One member of staff was particularly unfriendly although the rest were very good.

Very well located, presented and very clean
A small fridge in the room would be helpful if only to store milk for coffee the next day (long life milk in the room would also work)
