Precisely renovated in 2023, the Academy offers travelers who stay there a unique hotel experience at the heart of the History of Knowledge. Located in the historic district of Old Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage site, L'Académie offers an ideal location allowing travelers to enjoy direct access to all the tourist activities available to the City of Lyon (museums, monuments, best restaurants and stops…) Designed in a building dating from 1406, this luxury hotel offers 12 rooms and suites in a neat decor inspired by the world of French Academicians who shaped the knowledge of our world. French ceilings, woodwork, solid parquet floors and high-end materials tastefully decorate the rooms and suites of this exceptional establishment. The latter, depending on the category, offer a view of the emblematic cobbled streets of Old Lyon or of a private courtyard. All rooms and suites have private bathrooms. They are air-conditioned, soundproofed and equipped with a TV and free Wi-Fi access. A continental breakfast is served daily for an extra charge. The Academy is also committed to more responsible tourism and is implementing various actions to protect the environment, reduce waste and energy consumption. It has a French window as the main opening and is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Access to the room is via the courtyard of the establishment.

Hotel St Paul CLOSED; we were transferred to College Hotel across the road All great, splendid breakfast; staff helpful - got taxis etc Air con worked well
As above Guests could be warned that evening and night can be noisy with social activity in street below.

Perfect location, small but charming room, clean, nice English speaking stuff, nice bathtub, comfortable bed. Would definitely stay there again (but have breakfast elsewhere).
The room was a bit run down but still charming. The breakfast was ok but not 4 star like. Coffee is served in paper cups with small plastic cans of creamer.

The staff were nice and the room was clean. It was in a good location but that was it.
I was in room 112. There were no curtains and the window wouldn't open for me so I couldn't close the shutter. As a result, people could see into my room. Which made me feel uncomfortable. I could also hear the noise outside which started at 7.30 which isn't great for me as I'm a light sleeper. Also I could hear everything in the room next door and above me. The TV was tiny and it was very high up. Also my "double" bed was 2 single beds pushed together and the 2 nights I stayed there, I fell through the gap as the beds would come apart which disrupted my sleep even more. I had take down the shower head to have a shower which is awkward as it is. And the water was either way too hot or way too cold. Also the soap dispensers looked like the dispensers out of a hospital and it didn't suit the decor of the bathroom It says that reception is 24h but that's not true. They're open from 3 until early the following morning which is annoying if you have a problem. Also check out is done in the other hotel. Breakfast is not included with the price. It's an extra 12. The cleaners came at around 8.30 and started banging and hoovering while I was still sleeping which woke me up. If people smoke,the smell it smoke lingers and the smell of stale smoke is horrific. There's no lift so be prepared to carry your luggage up a spiral staircase. Definitely not worth the money I paid for it. Very outdated decor, needs to be update to the 21st century

Hotel is located in the old Lyon, in a pedestrian street full of restaurants, the pub nearby (the smoking dog) is nice. The hotel is in a old building with a lot of charm. Silence at night an really comfortable bed. Cheap price.
No 4G signal in my room, I think due to the old, large building walls. In that case I'm usually relying on Wifi hotel access to still be able to join my friend and family, alas the connection is really unstable: ok for 20 minutes, then not enough bandwidth to have access to anything on the internet. Another point is the hotel furniture: the bed was really nice, but other things were pretty old and look really really used; parquet was modern but really damaged one, with a really strange inclination to lean under me. Paint on the walls need to be refreshed. The overall impression is that the hotel is badly maintained (or not maintained at all). The impression is enforced by the fact that you have to go to another hotel to check out, and so you can quickly compare the two...

I loved the location I loved the old feel about it . The spiral staircase and balconies were amazing. A real feel of old france. The room was clean and with good facilities And the breakfast at the college was great. Thank you.

Close to the main city attractions.
No reception (was in hotel across the street), floor boards very loud, you could hear everything. The stairwell was not yet or poorly renovated.

The window hinge was broken, the lighting was very poor, the fan was constantly squeaking and it was very noisy.
