The Hotel is perfect for a stay in Lyon, as it centrally located and the staff are friendly and welcoming. We upgraded to a Suite which was on the upper floor with a view of Bellecour Square.
The room was a little dated and requires some upgrading - especially the bathroom.
Otherwise everything was perfect.

The beds are very comfortable and the room was very quiet so, good for sleeping
The hotel is much more worn out than when we were there 7 years ago. Shower drain was broken, sink cracked, closet door glass broken. Nothing fixed I assume because the hotel is undergoing renovations. They just put down flooring in the lobby and smelled of glue. So what I didn't like was not being warned that the standard would be low due to pending and ongoing renovations.

Breakfast was very good ( above standard) and the location is convenient. The bed was comfortable and i liked that small touch where house keeping gave out small chocolates in the evenings.
Water pressure in the bath was very weak.. requires much improvement. Overall based on my experience I believe that this is more like a 4 start hotel ( should be so) and not a 5 start standard.

The location at Place Bellecouer is excellent and conveniently accessible by subway too. The river is at walking distance too. Lots of good shopping and restaurants in the vicinity.
The staff was very courteous and helpful. The decor and the toiletries were very good. An iron was provided on request.
The room was small though well furnished. The wifi didn't work, my laptop couldn't pick up the signal although it was working elsewhere. That could not be rectified. Luckily I had data on my phone and could use my personal hotspot.
The cord of the electric kettle was short and could not be used at the designated spot. The lobby and restaurant were under renovation, but plenty of great restaurants at walking distance.

Nicest and very professional staff, Pierre helped us sooo much with everything, breakfast was amazing and the decoration was great. I will definitely come back to this hotel we had a great time.

We stayed for a week. The room was lovely with a great view and balcony. Breakfast was delightful. We also enjoyed the bar. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend Le Royal.
The elevator was down for repairs while we were there.

The hotel is beautiful, comfortable, and wonderfully situated in the city. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We were upgraded into a suite because the elevator was temporarily out (it was fixed almost immediately) and I had a sprained ankle, so I think they took pity on me. One evening I asked for some ice to ice my ankle and it was at our door what seemed like seconds later. Our suite was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower was large. The breakfast was excellent. There were many nice restaurants nearby, and a market right across the street.
My only complaint, and it would not deter me from staying again, was that the shower was warm but not hot. It’s designed to cap at 38C, which is cooler than I prefer.

Incredible location and a beautiful room. The junior suites are in the turret offering views of both the river and mountain / cathedral. It made the trip so much better. Breakfast was lovely and service was impeccable.

Great reception staff.
Room temperature is not controlled from room. Had to leave doors to balcony open to be able to cool down the room. Bathroom didn’t have hooks for towels and not senior friendly shower.
