Lovely old house in excellent position between old and new towns. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff.
I had a problem with check out. Required to pay the hotel itself, I offered my debit card. I was then told that a fee was charged for cards. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough cash, so I had to pay by card. I think this issue should be made clear at check in so that guests can make arrangements.

Lovely small outside area for breakfast or to sit in.

The room was spacious and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was outstanding with both indoor and outside seating possible. Breakfast choice was superb, with lots of homemade items and freshly cooked eggs. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. The downstairs lounge area and outside courtyard meant we felt really at home. Great location between both parts of town very close to good bars and restaurants too.
On arrival, we had thought we could pay with credit card, so had to get more cash from ATM on departure - had we have known this at the start of our stay, we could have sorted this then.

Wonderful
Beautiful chambre d'hôte very close to the walled city in Carcassonne. Our bedroom was immense and very comfortable with a bedroom that opened onto a quiet courtyard. The host and staff were incredibly welcoming to us, and we enjoyed many things about our stay. The bathroom was a beautiful remodel with an enormous and comfortable shower. The room had its own air conditioner that we only needed to use one day, but it cooled the room quickly. We enjoyed interacting with other guests over breakfast. There was a lot of parking nearby, but a couple times it was still hard to find a spot because there is no dedicated parking. Overall we really loved our stay here.
The only thing was that the bread at breakfast wasn't fresh - surprising for France! Otherwise, we loved everything.

We would highly recommend this small hotel. A very comfortable spacious room right near the castle, but also right next to the pedestrian bridge to bring you to the main part of town. Breakfast provided was wonderful. The staff was very accommodating. We walked from the train station and also walked easily to the castle. We like venturing over the pedestrian bridge and walking the paths beneath that area. Close to many restaurants as well.
It’s great when you can’t think of how this place could be better! I guess having our room face the courtyard might have been a bonus, but even still quiet and nice to look out on the front street!

Beautiful rooms, comfy beds with fresh, white linen, and the most delicious breakfast with fresh homemade selections. The location is ideal, walking distance to the town square and medieval cite. La Maison Vieille is exceptional, thank you for your hospitality

The house is wonderful and the decor also. The location is perfect as it's only 10' walk from the Citadel and the Castle. The breakfast is to die for! Fresh bread and cakes and puddings and home made creme brulé. The road is full of restaurants, we were spoilt for choice!
The shower is in the bedroom, and even with the screen in front of it, there isn't a lot of privacy.
On Saturday night the restaurants and bars had live, loud music, which made it an issue to get some sleep.

Disappointing
The location was very good, near the restaurants, public transport and walking distance to both the medieval cite and the main town. The room was very large. Breakfast consisted of a good selection home made items. The mattress was very comfortable. The decor was amazing.
As mentioned in another review ( which I stupidly ignored) the towels and bedding smelt very musty/mouldy. I asked for the towels to be changed but these were no better and the only solution offered was a quick sqirt of freebreeze! It was a squeeze to get into the toilet cubicle and close the door ( I am not a large person) The inside of the door had not been dusted in a while and was generally grubby. If any other guests flushed their toilet in the night it was very noisy. I knew they didn't accept credit cards but they didn't accept debit cards either, only cash or bank transfer dispite Booking.com accepting the booking with a card.

Location, easy to get to new town and to the old city. Plenty of places to eat and close by.
Although the breakfast selection was good there was a lack of croissants or pain au chocolates that I would have liked for a typical French breakfast.
