On arrival, Hotel La Bastide Saint Martin, is impressive, Entering through two large iron gates into a area providing sufficient car parking. The Foyer of the Hotel was also impressive, possessing wonderful ambience and decor. There is an open area for breakfast, which was quite adequate, adjacent to a large heated pool surrounded by chairs and sun lounges. The room had air- conditioning which was a great relief from the single fans experienced in our two previous stays. The owners provided excellent assistance when required, especially since we spoke little French. Both owners were essential in assisting us when we severely damaged a tyre on our rented Peugoet 2008. They spoke (French) to Hertz in Carcassonne and managed to organize the return of our vehicle. . . . . . we will be forever in their debt for their kindness and personal assistance. Rating: 8/10
The only negatives were that the property was located some four kms from Carcassonne, requiring a car to get into the town. The small size of the room which made accommodation of our 4 large suitcases a challenge, leaving little room to walk. The necessity to lug our suitcases up a flight of stairs to our room and the absence of a refrigerator, especially when we had milk (for coffee in the morning and a few bottles of white wine). The Breakfast though quite good, was optional. Our unit was described as being a Superior Double Room which was wheelchair accessible . . .in fact our accommodation was a single room with a separate bathroom on the first floor, hardly wheelchair accessible

We've enjoyed our holiday at Htel La Bastide Saint-Martin very much! We had a wonderful room, with a spacious bathroom and more than enough closet space. The owners and the receptionist Myriam are very nice and hospitable. They want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The swimmingpool, sunbeds and garden are lovely and comfortable.
There's hardly anything we didn't like. Maybe a more stable WiFi would be welcome.

Superb stay at hotel. Would highly recommend. Lovely pool area, reception, friendly helpful staff, gorgeous room. Just 10 minutes away from Carcassonne by car. Couldn't fault anything! Excellent choice at breakfast.
There was nothing that could have been improved. Would quite happily have stayed longer but we were travelling through France. Receptionist even apologised for the poor weather on check out day!

A very relaxed atmosphere in a quiet location a short drive from tourist areas in Carcassonne.A car is needed to access this hotel. We enjoyed the swimming pool each afternoon. The hotel was exceptionally clean and well-maintained.Our bathroom in particular was very comfortable.
The description of the facilities on 'booking.com' were a little inaccurate.It might have been an error in translation?The rooms were described as having 'shared wc' when in fact our wc/bathroom was en-suite to our room and we did not share it with anyone.I would advise that this is amended because it does not describe the facilities on offer accurately. We thought that the breakfast on offer , although excellent in terms of choice and quality, was a little expensive.

It was clean and welcoming . The pool was beautiful . The breakfast was lovely and the staff polite and accommodating.
No bar or service after 7:30 pm meant we couldnt relax with a drink in the evening which would have made the stay perfect .

A beautiful property. We especially loved the outdoor area with the pool and loungers.
The location is quite remote for access to Carcassonne if you dont have a car as the taxi service in this area is limited.

The location was fabulous good links to the road systems to The cite, Narbonne, La Somail, Treves etc.

Nice hotel, well placed, very clean, great swimming pool and very comfortable bedrooms. Very good breakfast. I recommend it.
An amateur approach from the hotel manager on the lack of hot water for my shower sadly left a bit of an aftertaste to our otherwise lovely stay.
