The best thing about this hotel is location - less than 10 mins walk from train station where also is a bus stop for airport shuttle. Very handy if you fly to Carcassonne and want to travel to Perpignan. It's also in the city Centre. Facilities are basic, but all is clean. Good value for many. Lady receptionist was lovely, insisted to carry one of my bags upstairs. I'd stay there again.
Could do with upgrading towels and pillows.

Htel was not far from the train station, the centre of the town and the castle. Staff was friendly and ready to help.
Location didn't look nice at the first glance but was generally OKAY.

No elevator. Headboards fell onto the bed if moved only a bit. Terrible shower. Room not fully cleaned. Housecleaned found an iPad left behind & kept it.

There was NO HOT water in our room for the duration of our stay. The staff on duty had on authority to compensate us for this failure and to our knowledge could not contact the proprietor. We have contacted the Hotel but, to date, we have had no reply.

Adequate for an overnight stay. Staff at front of house very welcoming and friendly. Room somewhat basic but functional and clean. Coded entry system was good. Short walk to many lovely Restaurants, Canal and Train Station.
Hotel and rooms just looked a bit tired inside. It needs an increased measure of TLC.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location. The room was a nice size and the windows fitted with roller blinds. Working TV. Plenty of towels, soap and shampoo. Great value for money. Powerful flow of water in the shower.
Old building so a bit noisy but nothing much you can do about it.

A single room! Hard to come by. The greeting was very pleasant from the person on the desk and helpful. The rooms are up several flights of stairs and he carried the luggage for us. The room is rather tired decor-wise -basic but clean and located where it was convenient to catch the airport shuttle = 5-10 minutes walk. Within reach of some good restaurants.
No lift of course - but that was clearly stated and overcome by the desk staff who helped.

Our original booking at Hotel Central was changed to Htel de la Bastide and we were informed well in advance. This review is for Htel de la Bastide, which was a simple, straightforward hotel that made for a relaxing stay. Staff at reception were particularly good - helpful and cheerful.

The hotel was located within east walking distance of the main train station and the centre of Carcassonne. The room was comfortable. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was buffet style. The room was inexpensive and it was en-suite.
There was only one plug socket that I could find in the room.

Disappointing
The first day went well, with the staff helping to point out places to see, storing our bags until we could check in, and being genuinely friendly and helpful. It was a good location and the room, although having some small issues like mould in the shower, was large and airy and comfortable.
The second day, upon finding some bites on our legs that we had firstly put down to mosquitos, we unfortunately found 3/4 bed bugs in our sheets/mattress along with insect poison in a powder spread all underneath the bed and upon the bed frame, showing the extent of the issue and the knowledge the staff had about it. When we complained the man at the desk snickered at us. We had to fight to even get a room change let alone a refund with which to book another hotel, which we were told would be impossible. We were told not to make an issue out of it and when we found a review from a year previous stating the exact same problem (and same response) we were ignored over our concerns. They apologised but kept telling us to relax despite never raising our voices or getting upset with the man, simply explaining that we would ideally like our money back and to leave before our things became infested. We were told to speak or meet with a manager would again 'be impossible' and that we should be happy now that we had a new room downstairs. Perhaps a tad biased at this point but we found the new room's shower leaked so badly the whole bathroom floor flooded and we had to use all of our towels to soak it up. When we complained to booking.com they phoned the hotel and the man came up to confront us on the 'new issue', we explained there was no new issue and had simply done as he had advised 'you booked through another site so take it up with them'. He seemed to be very personally offended by the suggestion we were upset with the situation as a whole, despite multiple attempts to assure him it wasn't his fault but the fault of the hotel. Overall we were just left feeling crazy, as if we were making a massive deal out of something that had caused us to loose a whole day of our two day holiday, cleaning and checking out our clothes/belongings, and changing rooms.

The staff are very helpful and very friendly.
They really helped me a lot. I would recommend this place just for the staff.
For me the bed was too soft. Check in and out times are not convenient for the customer.

My daughter travelled with my wife (not myself, they booked through my account) and stayed here for one night. The room was infested with BED BUGS. My daughter woke up with over 100 bites which shown themselves through out the day. They told the management and showed them the photos of the bed bugs crawling on linen and walls, dots of blood on the linen too. The hotel management HAVE KNOWN of the issue already by their own word and refunded the total amount without any problem. Regardless of this, I feel obliged to say of this due to severe nature of the health and sanitary problem. My daugther is spending the remaining of her vacation in curing severe itching that resulted in severe allergy with shaking, spending money on medecine and doctors. Otherwise, the hotel is amazing for a budget.
