Staff friendly, location perfect. Parking on site was a bonus.
Room rather small, and there was a door with a twofold purpose: close the bathroom, and in the other direction to separate the bedroom from the entrance. It was a bit of an obstacle while entering the room.

The room was OK, with a good walk in shower. We had asked for a quiet room and we got one with a nice view over a quiet courtyard area at the rear of the hotel. Parking underneath the hotel was great (pay extra but worth it). We also pre booked breakfast, it was varied and plentiful, with some lovely fresh bread choices.
We knew that we were booking a budget hotel but... - the room had no drawers for storage and (in my view) not enough shelving/wardrobe space for two people staying for 3 nights. - the bathroom supplies were scant. No hand towels, not even a box of tissues. Just one middle sized towel each. There are lots of Ibis hotels in Caen but this one is the only one that shares some facilities with a Mercure. This became a standing joke to us - 'I bet they have tissues in Mercure rooms' 'I bet people in Mercure rooms can put their clothes away' etc... If these two things had been better it would have been an excellent stay - but instead I can only mark it as good.

The rooms themselves are nice comfortable bed and shower and Air con also. Quiet location just out of the main area.
Breakfast was expensive for the lack of choice. Just eggs and bacon - was 28euros for 2 people for 1 morning. the walls are not proper walls. Partitions so you can hear everything especially the cleaners very early in the morning like 7 and 8am pulling furniture around the rooms above and slamming doors going in and out making rooms.
