In a great location for visiting the city centre. A beautiful and clean city.
Despite advertising as pet friendly, they announced on our arrival that we were only allowed 1 dog, not a great start. This should be made clear on the web site. They did allow us to bring in our two small dogs eventually but this made us feel unwelcome. The room is very basic and nousy as there's a kebab shop opposite with delivery scooters coming and going late into the night. A tram line runs outside, causing significant noise too.The shower is basically a hand held pipe off the tap which was awkward to use. Breakfast was very basic.

Great location in the centre of Caen. Has great secure parking for motorbikes. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Not the most private room, other apartments in the complex seemed to be able to see right into the room. No air-conditioning so room was very warm during the heatwave...which necessitated leaving windows open and so neighbours could see in.

Hotel is very central. Right next to a tram stop but only a 15-20 Minute walk from Caen train station. All the staff I dealt with were excellent. (I don't speak French but they all spoke reasonably good English.)
I quite enjoyed the breakfast, which consisted of two chunks of sourdough baguette, a large Croissant, a small jug of coffee (enough for about 2 and a bit cups), the same amount of orange juice, and a small yoghurt, served with potions of butter and jam/marmalade on the side. At first, it didn't look particularly good value for €10 per morning but I was surprisingly full after it. IT IS NOT A BUFFET however, so if that is what you prefer, you will need to look elsewhere.
The room was compact (certainly one of the smallest I've ever stayed in) but the bed was very comfortable. There are no Tea/coffee making facilities and I had to ask reception for a clothes iron shortly after I checked in which they were able to provide the following morning.
The room and bathroom were immaculately clean.
The room was very small. (5th floor, no. 18) Being on the top floor, the slope of the roof cuts into the available space. It was in that part of the room that they put the clothes storage, but the bed was very close to the storage making access awkward and moving the bed over would have only impeded access to the en suite. In short, the layout of the room was quite un-ergonomic.
The shower was very small. I don't think it even measured 1×1 metre. I am a tall guy and have a large build and I had no room to manoeuvre inside it. I'd come out of it to find a pool of water on the floor. I have no idea if this was a leak, or a result of the door opening as I tried to move around inside. I'll say no more.
The room had no Air Conditioning (although a fan was provided) and it was seriously hot in the evening time. Of course there isn't anything the hotel can do about a heatwave. The best I could do was to keep the window wide open at night to let in the cool air and then in the morning close up the exterior shutter and window for the day. It helped a bit but if you are sensitive to the heat then keep this in mind.
If you are bringing or renting a car, you should be able to get parked reasonably close to the hotel in one of the numerous paid parking garages and car parks. If you choose Cortonne be advised that you cannot park there on Saturday night through to Sunday afternoon. I very nearly got caught out and apparently it is quite common for tourists to have their cars towed.

Very near to the old Castle and very central to the important places in the town, so the hotel is very convenient. Our first visit to Caen-it is a beautiful city!
The staff are very nice and helpful and we enjoyed chatting with other guests at breakfast.
