Christian is a top man! With such wonderful hospitality, friendliness and generosity, it is hard to find fault with a someone who’s devoted to his guests’ comfort and needs. I arrived with low expectations and left with the joy of making new friends, knowing I could return at anytime to a place that is comfortable, clean and welcoming.
Because it is a small hostel, the bathrooms and showers are at a premium. Lineups are to be expected.

The owner is incredibly kind and accommodating, the facilities are clean and well kept, and Felix the cat will cuddle with you if you let him! In addition, the location of the hostel is very conveniently placed, and the other people staying there were delightful. All in all, my stay was 10/10! If I come back to the Faroe Islands this place will be my first choice!

Giljanes Hostel is a wonderful place to meet other travellers and feels more like a community than an accommodation. The gentleman who runs the hostel is friendly, professional, and helpful and goes above and beyond to ensure that all guests have the opportunity to truly experience the Faroe Islands. I also liked that free parking is available and that the hostel has well maintained facilities for both hostel guests and campers alike. The hostel is also well located - both the Airport and the capital city are only a short bus ride away and two charming villages full of culture and life are withing walking distance from the hostel.
No dislikes - this place is an 11/10. The price is fair and I appreciate how Giljanes Hostel makes a trip to the Faroe Islands accessible to travellers who enjoy nature, culture, and meeting new people.

Check-in was easy, and the place was very clean. The view from the window is fantastic. There are bus stops (actually cutouts) on the road just above the hostel.
The bed is about 8 inches from the wall, so it's very difficult to sit up in bed and read or work on the computer. More pillows would help, but this is a hostel. The door to the sitting area is very hard to close without making a big bang, which disturbs people. I guess I'm not really a hostel person, so I was a little put off by the spareness.

It was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you need to prepare a meal. Check in was easy. Location is amazing with great views from common area. Walkable to great hiking (lake over the ocean). Close to bus stop, easy to reach from airport.

The host, Kristjian, is amazingly warm and friendly. Excellent kitchen, cozy dining/sitting area, great views, comfortable bunk beds, everything you need for a classic hostel. Great location, and the best price. Can’t wait to come back!

The location and the accessibility to public transport. The owner was very nice. The common space was very big and comfortable. It has several kitchens and they are fully equipped.
Lack of space to leave your luggage in the rooms. It gets too hot in the rooms when the window is closed

Clean facilities, the room (I stayed in private and dorms on the stay) were all clean and functional. The value for money is some of the best you’ll find on the Faroe Islands. Enough bathrooms and showers. A good shared kitchen and social lounge space. Kind and flexible owner.
Questions and requests pre-arrival went unanswered - Kristjan, the host, runs 5 properties so he’s a busy man. He is very engaged once you get there, answering guest questions in the evenings. The location can make timing return trips tricky.

I really love the vibe of living room. Christian give everyone help, including suggested plans, weather condition, culture on the island, and place to go if you want try food or other activities. He made the living room a place to share experience and tips. He is also super helpful to accommodate need like finding a tent for you if you can't book a bed. He will find tent from his storageroom and help you set up before night. Awesome guy to run hostel for every single traveller!
I really come in good time and enjoyed everything here. Maps are shared on the table and a lot of interesting pamphlet if you come not prepared.

It’s a great place that truly felt like home. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped with everything you need, and the common areas are clean and well-organized. We also enjoyed meeting guests from all over the world and sharing experiences—it made our stay even more memorable. And we missed Felix!
