Helpful staff and close to lots of restaurants
There is a half deck. Not sure why we are assigned to a room, which need to walk the staircase with heavy luggage. With my bad leg condition, I cannot manage it. But it is still good that friendly staff could offer help to carry for me.

The staff was nice. The rooms were clean cozy and warm. The sauna was a perk and the closet to hold luggage was a lifesaver. The breakfast could've shown a bit more variety and the sauna shower could've been cleaned but other than that it was perfect.

Good food and variety., Coffee not strong enough.
It is a worn down hotel, carpets nbeed replacing, drapes in the rooms need replacing, the base of the shower leaks, the room lighting is terrible, too few electrical sockets and none by the bed for recharging.

The breakfast was good, a nice range of choices. Fresh hot food was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean. Good central location. Quiet. Comfortable bed. Nice seating area in the lobby.
The shower head did not stay in place when being used. The hairdryer did not work. There were no hot drinks available in the room.

Great location. Within a few minutes walking distance to most of the collection points for all the tours we did. Good price point. Friendly staff.
Very old building and dark lighting throughout. Our room had only one small window that could open, the rest couldn't be opened. We had a small sauna in our bathroom which we used once but it took quite a while to heat up and wasn't really worth it in the end. The breakfast selection wasn't great and some foods didn't taste very fresh.

We only stayed for two nights. The Family room was large and the bathroom meet our needs nicely. The breakfast was excellent and the service and staff very helpful. We wouild stay again.
Nothing, but the hotel is showing its age and needs refurbishing.

We stayed 4 nights in Scandinavia Pilar hotel and thoroughly enjoy it. There was a great selection at the breakfast buffet. Rooms were comfortable and clean and the lication was perfect

The location is perfect - even if you decide for a different accommodation, look in the vicinity of this one as that is the center of Rovaniemi where all the travel agencies are located and the Santa express bus passes through. The breakfast was better than I expected. If you come with a kid, the hotel offers plastic sleds which you can take to drag your kid around town. The staff is friendly.
The rooms are rather big, but boring - you wouldn't enjoy "just spending time" in them too much (imagine a "motel room" of sorts). If you're coming to Rovaniemi to fill your days with all the typical touristy stuff, that's totally fine. If it's your honeymoon or a similar romantic getaway - much less so. As other reviews mention, the hotel has a bit of a "dated 80s vibe". We did not find this to be a problem at all, but I can see how someone could expect something more modern(ized) from the Scandic chain, and feel a bit disappointed. The price (at New year's time) was 5x of what you'd pay for the same room in a different city on a different day. Yes, it is not a surprise and you know it already from what the site shows you, but these reviews here are for grumbling a bit, right?

Great location. In the center of the town. The staff was friendly and always happy to help and answer all the questions we had. Good breakfast.
For the price we paid and I understand this was during the peak season, I have to say that the room was way overpriced. The room was super small, with minimum amenities. It was a central heating so adjusting (in our case increasing the temperature) was not possible. There was a hot water in the lobby but the tea bag cost over 2 euro.

The room was huge, well laid out and warm. The shower was also very warm, but we didn't get to try the sauna as we were only there for one night. There was good storage for coats and boots.
Unfortunately the fan in the bathroom was not working.

The hotel was in a good location and near to the river.
The toilet was broken and not attached to the floor. There was a broken plug on the lamp were you could touch the live wires. When the staff were informed they didn’t really care, just offered a bottle of water. For over 500 euro per night I expected better.

The Scandic polar Rovaniemi has a great location, a very good buffet breakfast and is very very warm inside. The wifi works well. The staff is polite and helpful.
The rooms are outdated ( which would be fine) but the mattresses and pillows are quite bad. The mattresses are very soft, and the pillows too high. The area close to the window was terribly dirty, so it was likley not cleaned very frequently. The price is too high for the kind of hotel, but with the high season in Rovaniemi there are not many options .
