Staff were really nice and helpful, and they gave a quick tour when i arrived which was great. Nice place, fairly clean, but some photos are a bit misleading. Overall i loved the place and the vibe.

Nice atmosphere, the staff was nice too. Beds are very soft (which was not the best for my back, but if you like it, it's great!). The best kitchen I ever had the opportunity to use.

The location was perfect easy to get to the metro and walking distance to restaurants and attractions. The bed was comfortable.
They add lights bunk beds so that people are not forced to use the main light while others are sleeping.

Disappointing
Location is good
The bed was not clean under the sheets, when I climbed to my bed it was making noise, the blanket was not good enough to keep me warm at midnight I caught cold and the bathroom was always wet,

Loved that I the place was sorrunded by everything - beach, museums, shopping centres, bars, etc. The rooms were clean and you some were only females/males. The evenings spent together left me with amazing memories.

Great location, nice common areas, clean rooms, safe, social atmosphere. Free sangria and community dinner a nice touch to connect people!
The staff and guests can get cliquey.
It can be crowded, chaotic and loud during dinner/evening time in kitchen and common areas.
The kitchen is closed after 10pm and for cleaning at random times in the late afternoon so if you have food in the fridge or want to have a late night snack you don’t always have access to it.

My stay at The Lights Hostel in Málaga was absolutely exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, perfect for travelers looking to connect while still having comfortable spaces to unwind.
The rooms and facilities were spotless, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The rooftop terrace was a highlight — a great place to enjoy breakfast or an evening drink while soaking in the city views. The location couldn’t be better, right in the heart of Málaga, just steps away from major attractions, restaurants, and the beach.
Overall, The Lights Hostel exceeded my expectations in every way. It combines comfort, community, and convenience effortlessly. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Málaga — truly one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in.

Very Good
Location is great, the staff at the reception is really nice and helpful, the kitchen is equipped pretty good, there are curtains on the beds and lockers in the room, there hostel offers some nice meals and activities, such as pub crawl, beach volleyball, dinner and breakfast with extra charge.
Generally a good place to stay at Malaga!
The kitchen cleaning hours are not clear. They say that is is open from 8:00 am to 00:00 but then they surprisingly tell you you should leave the kitchen for 30 minutes because they have to clean it. The cleaning part is good but I rather the kitchen would have been open until 23:00 and no one will kick me out during the hours that it is supposed to be open, exactly at the time when I am trying to cook dinner. Or at least you can say that from 22:00-23:00 every day, the kitchen is closed, but doing it every day in a different hour is just annoying for all the guests. Also it kind of felt like some of the volunteers just don't really care about it, they kind of try to clean it after the hostel dinner, so the kitchen will be clean for the next day, so even when they finish cleaning after they kicked you out they don't tell you that they are done and they sometimes keep the kitchen's lights off to make it look like it is closed already, even though it is not 00:00 yet.

Wonderful
It's a very well located hostel!
Even though the facilities aren't the most modern the room was clean and tidy, I really like it. The lady who attended me at the beginning and goes with you to show you the room is so nice.
At some point I went to the reception to ask about the schedule since I needed to leave really early, and ask about the best way to get to the airport, the guy seemed a bit rude... At night I have no idea what they were doing, tidy, cleaning or something in the room just right to mine JESUS the noise was unbelievable! They stoped about 12 pm :(. Hard to get a proper rest. Even though you can still hear things from outside, isn't that bad.
Note: the ladies shower is so busy, I didn't experience that as I stay in a female room, otherwise you need to wait.

Excellent experience. I don't understand the bad reviews, the place was clean, comfy, the staff was great and it's very easy to connect with people as a solo traveler. Everyone was friendly and respectful. I'll definitely come back.
