The hotel is on good location withing walking distance from Sol, Grand Vía, Plaza Mayor, Prado museum, Palace Royal etc. and it's surrounding offers good gastronomy. The staff in hotel are super nice and helpful. The breakfast is superb - so which choice of options: sweet, salty, juices, sausages, cheeses, fruit. Don't hesitate to ask them to make you omelet.
The rooms are pretty basic, bit worn out and beds pretty hard.

Disappointing
Location is good, but the region has a lot of other options, so it is not a differenatiator.
The hotel has an infrastructure that is ok, BUT IT IS NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL AT ALL.
Breakfast crowded, few staff members to keep food supply available, sometimes had to wait 10 minutes to get a fruit or yogurt.
DISHES ON BREAKFAST WERE DIRTY, EVEN AFTER CLEANED - THIS IS THE MOST ABSURD THING EVER FOR ME.
4 STAR HOTEL? NEVER!!!!!!!

Wonderful
The hotel was clean, modern, and very centrally located. I chose it for being close to a Metro stop (Alonso Martinez). It was even closer to the Metro than I expected, but we walked many places because it was so centrally located. There are lots of food options right outside the door. The breakfast buffet was amazing for a hotel breakfast. The staff was very helpful, and took care of all our needs and questions.
Not really a negative for me, but visitors should expect the rooms to be small. I love my coffee, but the coffee at breakfast is from machines and was disappointing.

I was already familiar with the location and I like it. The bed was comfortable. Staff was nice. Clean rooms. Spacious rooms. The safe was very strange to use, and you may need to call them to use it. I loved the view from the window we would get early sunrises and sun all day if you need it and wonderful window closures/drapes if you need a nap.
The TV control was not working all that well. The TV had limited channels. When you are on jetlag mode and exhausted you kind of want to watch some TV. The restroom's door was very awkward. You cant go to the toilet without closing it. You cannot access the trash can from the sink without closing the door. A slide door is highly recommended for your restroom. The shower was suppose to have cool features, and it was a chore to set it up to ideal hot/cold. Wish you had one clock and an ideal one would be a charging port clock just to keep it the room feeling like 2026.

We enjoyed our 5-night stay at Petit Palace, Santa Barbara. We had a double superior room with views of the very busy and noisy Santa Barbara Plaza below and a balcony facing the front of the building. The nighttime noise was easily shut out with the closure of the large windows onto the small balcony; was totally effective! The room was clean, large and bright and the bathroom was well equipped and clean. Great, central location and within walking distance of many sights and hundreds of restaurants and bakeries. The morning breakfast was outstanding and offered a wide variety of choices--great coffees and tea; hot foods; cold cuts; lots of freshly cut fruits and vegetables; cheeses; sausage; many, many pastries; freshly squeezed orange juice and others; breads and buns; eggs; yogurts; etc., etc. This fabulous breakfast was always a great way to start the day!!! The hotel receptionists (especially Olga) were alway friendly, helpful, responsive, and accommodating.
The entrance to the hotel could be refurbished as it's looking a bit dowdy upon arrival. The courtyard could be very attractive if it were cleaned up, organized, and made more useful and appealing. The room could have more hooks, drawers and cupboards for clothes storage. Room had only one luggage stand (although a second was brought in, upon request).

I love the location - it's far enough from the Gran Via area which is full of people but easy to walk to. The hotel was nice and surrounded by cozy cafes and restaurants. I really liked how modern this hotel was and we were so thankful it had a lift. We understand Europe has a lot of stairs and slim structures but when you have a lot of luggage to carry, the lift was fast and came in handy. The convenient and diverse breakfast was great too.
Ernesto helped handle our complaints but there was one employee (didnt even give us a name but we kept running into him when we needed something) that was horrible. Glad that guy is getting let go.

This is our second time in this hotel, we really like it. The location is great, the breakfast is amazing. One of my colleagues had a birthday during our stay and they surprised her in the room with cake and champagne.

STAFF were all exceptional --kind and friendly. loved location...
disappointed that breakfast was NOT part of the cost of the hotel room ...like most other hotels. and though ate there one day -- no one kept ahead of the food in terms of scrambled eggs not monitored so several in our party could not have any....reduce cost to less or $0 would be lovely. the space is the best I have seen....

Location. Breakfast buffet. Bedding.
These apartments have high ceilings and tall windows that are charming, but the rooms themselves feel sparse and uninspired. I know city hotels can be noisy, but the delivery trucks were especially loud well before 8am in our square-facing room. One of the bathrooms had a sewer gas smell that was pretty bad the first night. When we reported it the next day, the desk staff didn't seem surprised, and the smell was mostly gone the next night. There weren't any booking.com options that didn't include dinner, but we're not going to eat dinner at the hotel when we're in Madrid with fantastic restaurants. I tried to get refunded the dinners but the hotel told us it was booking.com's responsibility and booking.com told us it was the hotel's responsibility, so that was disappointing customer service.
