Exceptional
The staff at the desk and the breakfast room were friendly and very efficient. The breakfast was well stocked with lots of choices. This historic hotel is well placed between the Plaza del Sol and the Plaza Mayor where you can dine and shop for souvenirs, find taxis etc.

The staff were truly the best part of they were kind, accommodating, and so helpful.
Our stay was otherwise a disaster. There was a bad water leak in our bathroom on the first night and they couldn’t change our room until the next day. There was a ton of water pooling in the bathroom and all they could do was give us towels. Additionally, we found cockroaches in the same room. I realize this is an old property, but for the price and a four start hotel it was truly unacceptable. They moved our room finally and told us it was an “upgrade,” even though it was just a room with a balcony. We had specifically selected one without a balcony because of the noise on the street. It was difficult to sleep and the room had two twin beds instead of one full/queen like we had booked. Overall, the hotel itself was not good and we wouldn’t recommend it.

Close to Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral and other interesting places. Very good breakfast! Clean!
Well, when I was choosing the room, it didn’t say attic then clicked on it, and it said it is an attic room. Part of the ceiling of the room is high and it gets very low. There is a small window. I complained abt it before and asked the receptionist for a change of room and she said add 10 euro per day. I said no and she said you can find another hotel. I said yes and then she changed her mind and said ok not to add 10 euro. She gave us the key to rm 305 and the housekeeper complained bec she is not done cleaning She wanted us to go to the reception. I said no and waited in the hallway, then sat on the stairs. We waited for 35 mins and she’s not done So we went inside She said not to sit on a chair inside the room bec she’s not done We were very very tired considering we traveled 12 hrs from the US. On the 3rd morning, my daughter found a man by the window of our room. Our curtain was open and this man was directly doing work right by our window. We didn’t get any notification from this hotel that there will a man working right at our window. What a total disappointment. I will not return to this hotel!

Fun fact: this was the first hotel in Madrid. It was very clean and breakfast was great. I like that it was centralized to everything.

Central location. Receptionists are welcoming with great smiles and sense of humor (thank you Irene, you are the best!). Rooms were clean. We only stayed for night but it was a good one.
Didn't have much vegan options at breakfast, but what they did have was delicious.

Fantastic Breakfast and an amazing location. Right in the heart of Madrid. Everything we wanted to see was within walking distrance. Shower was incredible.

Very friendly and great location
The restaurant nearby cause food smell in some rooms ... however, the staff were very helpful in providing a replacement room .. I wish the ventilation system improved to avoid this problem. This can be easily managed.
Also no concierge service for people with luggage like us :)

The location was great. Large room. The breakfast was great, lots of options. The balcony was also a wonderful featur.
Maintenance issue - significant leaking from upstairs AC. When we call front desk we were given a stack of towels. Loud dripping sounds all night.

The location just off Plaza Mayor is centrally located to the Royal Palace, Plaza de Sol, Retiro Park, the Prado, Gran Via and of course many delightful shops and cafes.

breakfast was great, fruit, coffee, juice and delicious local dishes. The hotel was super clean, the staff was amazing and the location was AMAZING!!
Maybe the rooms were a little bit small, but don't get me wrong it was a minor details compared to all the bennefits Posada del Peine offered.

The location could not have been better. Walking distance to countless restaurants and major sights. The staff was wonderful. The breakfast was one of the best I've had. Can't imagine staying anywhere else when I come back to Madrid.
