Location is super, right in the heart of the central area.
Space is enough for two of us. It has an elevator which is nice.
Room looks new and clean. Reception people is very friendly and helpful.
They pre-arranged a taxi for our next morning to the airport, which is nice.
The floor of the room is uneven so the bed is placed at a weird angle that your head is lower than your feet.
The shower room is super small so it is difficult to turn around.
The reception desk is right outside of the rooms, about 2-3 feet. Someone is sitting outside of your room for 24 hours. You may feel secure but weird.

Great location, the entry way is hard to find, keep looking. The rooms have a good layout and make the most of the small space. Our room had good sound insulation and a split type air conditioning.
There is a small elevator up to the second floor.
The check in area is small, feels tight.

Well located in town.
Paper thin walls and people talked loudly all night long. Grrrr. The bed was not very welcoming and the blanket felt dirty and previously used. There was one very small window that could not be used as a fire escape in the event of a fire because it went nowhere. Oh the things you think about in the middle of the night when it is too noisy to sleep. I will pick another property next time in Madrid.

The location can't be beat! You are only a 1-2 minute walk away from the Mercado de San Miguel and Plaza Mayor. Sol and Opera are also easy to get to. The neighborhood felt safe and cozy. The staff was also very helpful and answered all of my questions (in English or in Spanish). The linens were clean, and the tiny balcony was a cute feature.
The housekeeping didn't do a thorough job cleaning because crumbs were still left untouched on the breakfast table, the floor wasn't swept or vacuumed, and, perhaps most frustratingly, they didn't restock the room with clean glasses and mugs nor take the old dirty ones. The hostal initially provided two mugs and glasses with some packets of free coffee. However, for a 6-day stay, it's gross to have old coffee cups in my room the whole time. The bed was a bit on the hard side, and the shower didn't drain efficiently. It's also an old building, so expect a tiny elevator, thin walls, creaky floors, and loud pipes. If you want a stay with less "character," I recommend staying in a chain hotel.

Great location in the center, safe, helpful staff, clean, modern and large room with air conditioning. I haven’t heard much noise from the street once the balcony door was fully closed. It is also on a quiter street. I would book this again.
The elevator didn’t work at night.
