Wonderful
Catalonia Gran Via has an excellent location, very friendly staff, and rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast is really good. Their lobby bar and rooftop bar are very nice. I would recommend it.
I was not expecting an exercise machine in my room, but I think it was my mistake when I booked. Looks like I chose a superior fitness room. But it did not really bother me.

Disappointing
The location was good
It was being refurbished and therefore tatty. Also significant noise from workmen during the day. In the evening there was no hot water and overnight there was a persistent banging noise which kept us awake.

Pleasant
The room was partially clean
The bathroom door was cracked at the edges and wasn't clean. I think it's basic to provide one bottle of water for free, rather than to charge it- I, of course, brought one for myself.

Wonderful
We very much enjoyed the location of the hotel, the staff, and all of the facilities. It was a great property to stay at. We particularly enjoyed the addition of the bunk in the room, so our daughter could easily sleep in the same room with us without making it uncomfortable or feeling too small.
It was a little expensive, but we understand the location is most likely the reason for driving up the price.

Good
Loved the facilities overall including the staff
I didn't like the fact that I slept without AC for half of my stay. Staff was able to provide a portable AC. Staff gave the option during the stay to move rooms, but it wasn't the same room with the view, and it would've altered the plans already made for sightseeing/exploring.
