Disappointing
Our stay at W Barcelona was unfortunately very disappointing.
We booked our stay 2–3 months in advance, yet the hotel only informed us one week before arrival that it was undergoing major renovations. This was very frustrating, especially since the renovation had already started on 13 October 2025 and is scheduled to continue until the end of April 2026, affecting rooms and suites from the 7th to the 25th floor.
When we first checked in, our room had a beautiful view of the beach and port. However, we were woken up early in the morning by loud construction noise, including drills and hammers.
We then requested a room change to a quieter floor. The hotel offered us a complimentary upgrade to a suite on the 3rd floor, which we appreciated, but unfortunately we were again woken up by the same construction noise. On top of that, it was a connecting room, and we could also hear noisy neighbors, which made the stay even less restful.
Service was also slower than expected. During the day, it was often difficult to reach reception, and at times we had to call 3 to 5 times before someone answered.
This was also not my first experience staying at a W Hotel, which made the disappointment even greater. Based on previous stays, I had certain expectations of the brand, but unfortunately W Barcelona did not meet the standards I associate with W Hotels.
The hotel is located in La Barceloneta, which is a beautiful area with many restaurants and lovely views. Sadly, what could have been a very enjoyable stay was significantly affected by the constant noise and overall experience.
