I was very excited to be able to find such a unique stay in a big city. I love being able to stay in places that have character vs sterile chain hotels. The yacht Southern Cross certainly fits that bill, the history of her is wonderful- commissioned by the Queen as a Royal Yacht, then owned by Frank Sinatra- very special. The location of the yacht was OK- a bit of a walk, but felt safe enough. Communication prior to my trip with the Southern Cross folks was just fine.. questions were answered quickly.
Worst Customer Service on sight! Starting with the fact that i was told to call the capt upon arriving close to the yacht location, to be told exactly where it was. No answer after many attempts and waiting 30 minutes with my luggage, I ended up asking someone where the boat was- walking about 600 meters with all my bags- getting to the boat to see the crew member on his phone.. didn't really seem to care that i had been trying to call to get checked in. CHeck in was ok- was shown around... and to my cabin. I immediately noticed that my bed , while made up with clean sheets and a blanket, did not have the decorative pillows, or the duvet, as shown in the listing photos. I found those shoved in the closet with no covers. The toilet also did not have a seat on it- and when i asked, i was told' No Seat- I did find the seat under the sink, and asked to have it put on. It never was, despite asking several times. The overall boat seemed like it had lacked any serious care..which is sad for a yacht of the notable history. All the drawers in my cabin were filled with junk. Breakfast ok, was pretty unspectacular with packaged pastries. There were no knapins or hot water the first morning, and no crew person around.
checking out- a new crew person was there- they all seemed just very disinterested in any type of customer service- No one offered to help me get my bags off the boat across the very wobbly skinny gang way... I almost fell off! I was disappointed in the obvious lack of customer service and care that the crew on the yacht had.. and it surprised me as all the reviews i read prior to booking were good. I just hope that whomever owns this boat starts taking better care and attention. Its too beautiful of a yacht not to.

When I booked the room, I was taken to a completely different room from the one I had reserved. However, after I asked to change it and paid an additional fee, I was moved to another, more comfortable room. The staff were accommodating and willing to find a solution, which I appreciated.
Good breakfast, different kinds of sausages ? different types of water as well
The cabin was rocking all night. I don’t usually suffer from seasickness, but after such a rough night, I felt very unwell the next morning.
But anyway good experience, I chose it myself

Nothing. The boat is nothing like the pictures. I was told that they had a private party from 5:30 until 9:30 and that I had to be off the boat. Bait and switch. I would look elsewhere and avoid at all costs.
Everything. Rude welcome. Rude owners. Ship nothing like the pictures.

It’s a beautiful ship.
We spend one night on the Southern Cross and it was a scary experience. The electricity went off completely 4 times during the night and there was no electricity in the morning. During the night lots of water was leaking into the ship, down the stairs, into the kitchen and there was lots of water coming out of a lamp. We were super concerned for our safety and tried to contact the crew. We only received one answer: we can’t help you, we are not on the boat anymore and you will have to wait until the morning. That was unacceptable, nobody came to help us. What added to the scary situation was that 3 times during the night a very loud alarm went off in the whole ship. We hardly slept because of the noise. In the very early morning a young woman turned of the alarm - but she could not help us with anything else and we also did not have her number to contact her. Nobody who was responsible for the boat responded to our calls, came to help or at least communicated with us in order to find out if the leaks (especially the water running out of electricity pathways!) could be a danger to us. We want a total refund, this was horrible. At last: the crew did not prepare any breakfast even though it was included and the toilet in our room did not work throughout the entire stay.

Nice old boat with impressive owner history, used to belong to Quinn Elizabeth. I liked peaceful environment and size of my room. Breakfast was great too.
I was given instructions that are not clear Waited too long to be called to the boat I think it could be done more professional

Great location in Port Vell. Was invited to join a sunset cruise on the ship on a Sunday, instead of getting kicked off for 2 hrs., which could happen on any day.
Stayed 4 days. A/C had trouble keeping up with the heat. 2 nights were miserabley hot. It made us stay out for most the days because there wasn't A/C that made us want to stay in to escape the heat on the streets. A guy from the UK appeared at breakfast one morning sweating like crazy saying he arrived the night before but got a room at another hotel because he couldnt sleep in the heat. Not sure if he stayed another night.
On our day of arrival, I had not heard back from the ship asking how much earlier than 3p could I drop off our luggage, like they said I could, while we took a tour. They said I could but never gave a time. We even arrived at the port and tried to call at 1 through 130p with no response and landed up paying 20 euros to store our luggage while we went to LA Sagrada Familia, who was un able to switch our times. We also spent another 30 euros in taxis because we ran out of time to get there because we were hoping for a timelier response. They need to work on their communications. When we arrived by 6p, like i messaged them after we never got a response we were told to wait at the public pier to be picked up and when they arrived we waited patiently for someone to talk to us on their procedure no one communicated with us. We had to approach them and it didn't seem like they even wanted to help us bring our luggage across the narrow gangway once it was lowered. And no assistance was provided lowering down to the lower level. So we did our best not to drop it or bump into the walls or stairs.
There is no fridge in the room which was dine.. No space to store any of our luggage. We knew the room would be small but not being able to store a few thing anywhere makes a difference when you can barely open a single luggage in the open space.
None of the drawers in the bathroom and under the bed would open; swollen and tight from humidity? Entry door and bathroom doors creaked loudly when ever you opened and closed them.

The boat was built for Queen Elizabeth!!! Then bought by Frank Sinatra!!!! Besides its history the boat is extremely well kept and a fantastic experience all around!!!

Southern Cross has a lot of potential. It has a very interesting back story and it is a beautiful accommodation. Excellent location. The sunset cruise was a nice bonus.
Unfortunately it was managed badly during my two night stay. Lack of communication and clear instructions made it extremely difficult to find and access the boat. I was told that there would be a private sailing and we would have to leave the boat for 1.5hrs. Fine, but when we arrived to check in at 4pm we were told we had to leave for 5hrs, from 5pm to 10pm. We had just arrived from Canada on a red eye and immediately had to leave. The AC was broken which meant it was literally around 50 degrees. I could not sleep in the cabin as they did not provide a fan until I complained the next day. Very difficult to find staff to help with anything, and they were slow to respond to whatsapp messages. The breakfast was fine, but found out after our stay that it was supposed to include hot items like eggs. Staff went in and out of our rooms despite it being locked and didn’t tell us. We were in bed sleeping when one staff member barged in. They claimed they did not know we were in there and left. I am not one to complain but it was not a good start to my vacation in Spain.

I would have loved to see it sailing but I had to return.
there was a musty smell, which is typical of sailboats, but maybe the bathroom could be aired a bit more when the weather is nice.

I’ve stayed on boats on a number of occasions in the past and this is one of the nicer ones. It was incredibly clean. And well appointed. And the location was close to a lot of amazing walking areas and sites. I don’t eat breakfast, but the coffee was fine. It was also nice to meet some fellow travelers. Of course at 6 foot 4, the berth was a little small for me, but that’s exactly what I expected.
