The location was fantastic - in the heart of Barcelona on Passeig de Gracia with 2 Metro stations within 2 blocks, yet it was very quiet. The rooms were spacious with a walkout balcony and housekeeping was spotless.

From the moment we approached the entrance door until checking out and leaving the Monument Hotel everything was perfect. Front office staff (Bellmen, Concierge and Receptionist) welcomed us immediately in such a hospitable, professional and well coordinated manner. During that moment I really noticed and felt what means 5* luxury hospitality. The most interesting detail that I noticed (even though it could be subjective) is that the employees have so much experience they exactly know and feel where is the border between being brief professional and efficient and asking too much or being too attentive. Above mentioned detail is rare, and people who travel often will understand what it means. Check in was smooth, and the receptionist lady was very professional. She explained everything to us in a short time with a smile and positive energy. We stayed in a Junior Suite, and the interior is really nice. Bathroom is amazing, one of my regrets is that I didnt have time to enjoy and relax in the bathtub. Mini bar offering is outstanding - complimentary soft drinks, snacks, coffee and tea infusions. Monument Hotel defines “quality over quantity”. How often do You see Louis Roederer champagne in a mini bar? Moreover - there is a “pillow menu” offering 5 different pillows according to guests needs. We didnt change our pillows as bed and pillows were very comfortable. Another detail, this time regarding the interior design - the “starry sky” lights on the ceiling above bed are an amazing detail. Dyptique cosmetics in the bathroom, wonderful. Breakfast is amazing, fresh, nutritious. Again I must say quality over quantity. I regret that we did not stay longer to be able to try more items from the a la carte menu. The whole hotel was very nicely decorated during the pre christmas period. Gentlemen at the bar are very professional and I regret I havent tried some of the cocktails as I noticed their skill and creativity while I was having my rum.

The hotel is perfectly located in the very middle of shopping and walking street of Barcelona. You can easily get anywhere from the place and fell comfortable with timing. Shops, restaurants and anything else you need for pleasure is within several step distance.
Unfortunately a lot of positive aspects around the hotel were ruined by technical or human factors. I can confirm that everything has been quickly resolved, but once during the two day stay you face at least 5 "issues" - it does make you think of your choice and if it was lucky enough.

The rooftop restaurant is fantastic. Breakfast was delicious with a lovely variety. We enjoyed the close proximity to Gaudi buildings, shopping and the lively areas. The room was delightful.
The cocktail bar served the amazing cocktails.
Concierge service is fantastic. Excellent restaurant staff make the dining experience even better.
We could not get a booking for the Michelin star restaurant. Perhaps spaces should be reserved for hotel guests with an option to accept or decline the booking(perhaps 48 hours from confirmation of the hotel room) or a pop up tab should appear upon confirmation of the hotel room offering a chance to book with the Michelin star restaurant.
