We had a stopover in Barcelona on our drive to Alicante and we chose to stay at Hotel Barcelona Universal, this was a great decision later as everything from comfort to cleanliness and service were tip-top.
Rooftop pool was amazing and we made good use of it on the warm summer day of August.
Rooms are well laid out and come with all the necessary amenities.
The breakfast was again a 10/10.
The check-in process could have been slightly faster, as I had already pre-checked in by entering my details

I had such an amazing stay, and the staff was truly wonderful. I will remember Dahlia every time I have chamomile tea — she recommended it as a hangover cure, and it actually worked! Her recommendations for good shopping spots were priceless as well.
Anargyros also had great tips about places to visit and things to do, and my friend was delighted to have someone she could converse with in Portuguese. Both of them were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and their attitude really made us feel welcome and relaxed.
The room itself was great: spacious, very clean, with excellent air conditioning and plenty of closet space, which I particularly appreciated. The hotel also has a lovely pool — small, but very nice to have after a day out in Barcelona. The location is extremely convenient, with a metro station just a minute away, so getting around the city is incredibly easy. Breakfast was delicious too, with a good variety and plenty of fresh fruit.
Overall, the staff here have set a new benchmark for hospitality. Better soundproofing would make the hotel pretty much perfect :) But even without it, I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Barcelona.
The only downside was the noise from the street. At the beginning of our stay, we requested a room change because of it, but we ended up not liking the new room quite as much and asked for our old one back. All this back and forth was handled impeccably by Carlos at reception, with amazing patience and a great sense of humor.

The hotel rooms are clean and very well equipped with air conditioning. Satellite TV was good . Hotel Barcelona Universal have very good breakfast available at the premises. Their staff is extremely polite and helpful. The location of the hotel is good too. There is a metro station just outside the hotel entrance. Highly recommended

Overall, it was a pleasant stay. The staff were very nice, friendly, and helpful. The location is very good and convenient, with a metro station right in front of the hotel, which makes it easy to get around the city. Breakfast was very good, with a nice selection of food. A good choice for a comfortable stay.

The perfect walkable location with many restaurants and shops around the building. The rooftop pool was nice. The restaurant on site had delicious European cuisine, for breakfast including honey, cinnamon sticks and fresh mint. I was able to program my TV for English which was a nice surprise. The Staff was friendly especially house keeping. This was a pleasurable stay since my prior stay in Barcelona was a nightmare. When booking a hotel in Barcelona this will be the first location that I will check for future cruises .
During this stay some room amenities were missing and if my daughter had not informed me what she received in her room I would not have known. The room was comfortable however, I would have liked more lighting and at least one USB connection.

When we arrived we paid 100€ for deposit with the credit card they told us at the checkout that in 3/4 days the money will comeback to our account…they didn’t sent it and also didn’t respond to our emailes
