Exceptional
Very good hotel in the city center, only few meters from the main street La Rambla. Hotel is very clean, staff is very good. I would recommend this hotel.
Center of Barcelona could be challenging regarding traffic.

The "Deluxe Room" (522) was beautiful with an outside sitting area that was amazing. Unfortunately we only were here three days but it was beautiful at night to go outside and hear the sounds of la RAMBLE and the city.
Room 522 was truly beautiful BUT we could not understand the sounds that were through the walls at night and during the day. It appeared that there was a door leading to a staircase exit next to our room but it also sounded like a subway or elevator was adjacent to our wall and it was loud. In fact, I woke up at 4:00AM since there was commotion in that area and it was disconcerting. I asked the receptionist when we checked out what was the cause of all these sounds and she didn't know. So, a word to the wise about room 522.

The staff were friendly and welcoming! They took our luggage off our hands and safely stored it so we could start exploring. The hotel has an amazing rooftop and an even more amazing and luxurious spa with pool and sauna. There’s a cozy and delicious paella restaurant around the corner recommended by the staff—it was both delicious and a great deal. The hotel is centrally located but private and quiet.
The signature scent in the lobby was a little pungent but we didn’t spend much time in the lobby, so no biggie. Everything else exceeded expectations.

Location is terrific. Centrally located so we were able to walk everywhere. It has lots to space to unpack. Staff was wonderful, including the doorman who saw that my husband was wearing a gold chain as we were leaving the first day, and suggested he should leave it behind. Front desk staff was wonderful in answering questions.
Safe was hard to figure out. It is located on a shelf about waist hight, so we needed to bend at an uncomfortable angle to use. Also, it would be great if directions were in other languages. Thermostat was also difficult to understand. Don't totally understand, but it didn't work until I called the desk and they turned it on.

Hotel 1898 was a central location and easy walk ability to all the nearby sights. The service was outstanding from the front desk, room service, spa and door/concierge. Room was very comfortable, linens fresh and comfortable bed and size. Enjoyed the spa facilities - service top notch and amenities a great way to wind down the day. The concierge was exceptionally helpful with restaurants and securing taxis. Staff always checking to ensure we were satisfied.
Outside of the hotel’s control, but the construction of the Rombla makes it difficult for the taxis to come and go - just something to be mindful of.

Great location just a half block off La Rambla. Unfortunately, La Rambla is under construction, but still quite hopping every day. Very comfortable rooms. Staff was wonderful. Enjoyed the live music in the bar in the evenings. Classic European hotel lobby where people hang out to meet and socialize.
We had a bathroom where the hot water took a very long time to get to the sink. Also the tub was super slippery when showering. Should have ask if they had a non slip mat. Minor inconvenience.

I thoroughly enjoyed me stay from the bottle of champagne delivered upon arrival to the delicious breakfast before my departure. The staff were amazing. I love the location right off the chaotic Ramblas. One steps into quiet, sophistication and comfort. The rooftop bar has stunning views to accompany a dip in the pool, a drink and tapas. Breakfast is a treat. Many options including local cuisine.

The double bed is terrible. It is essentially two beds with a top that moves apart - hate it. Somebody is always in the ditch between the beds. Asked the manager to help but all the beds in the hotel are the same.

The bed was comfortable and the room was lovely and very clean. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna every day of our stay and also loved the rooftop restaurant with views for miles. The location was also excellent, right next to Las Ramblas and just a couple blocks from the Gothic quarter. The staff were super helpful and made our stay very special. They even sent cake and wine to our room when they learned it was my husband’s birthday! I would 100% stay at Hotel 1898 again!

Great location, walking distance to many attractions, taxi stop right in front of it. Close to other public transportation.
Very clean, friendly and helpful staff .
Nice rooftop with amazing views of the city.
Good breakfast, with a good selection.
When it got busy at breakfast they were very slow in refilling the empty plates of food, and coffee machines would need water or emptying and stop working. I think they could have been more efficient at that .
