Grand Central Hotel Barcelona is a design hotel offering fantastic views of the Gothic Quarter and Barcelona Cathedral from its rooftop infinity pool. It has stylish rooms and free high-speed WiFi. The elegantly refurbished hotel is housed in an early 20th-century building and it is a clear example of the Catalan Noucentisme. The air-conditioned rooms at the Grand Hotel Barcelona have a modern design. They are equipped with a 4K high-definition TV´s with Chromecast . Each one has a bathroom with a large, rain-effect shower and luxury toiletries. The restaurant offers an authentic Spanish-style dining experience with small "platillos" to be shared, as well as a selection of over 150 local and national wines. An excellent culinary proposal that will make you feel like a local. La Terraza del Central, in the rooftop, is the perfect place to enjoy a dinner, a cocktail or both overlooking the city lights of Barcelona. Great location. Breakfast was mediocre and not in keeping with the price and standard of the hotel. Reception staff excellent.
Breakfast was the basic standard with none of the upmarket items one would expect from a hotel of this class. Surprisingly to have eggs other than those as in the buffet came at a high additional price whilst most hotels, allow this at no extra charge. I would suggest to people staying at the hotel to go out for a better breakfast at a price significantly less than at the hotel. Staff had difficulty coping with the number of people at breakfast. They failed to keep up the supply of food. The coffee machine was slow and mediocre.

Rooftop terrazza was an oasis in Barcelona’s gothic quarter at end of a day’s sightseeing
One small square window in the room meant very little natural light. Black tiled bathroom with no ventilation and very bad lighting (eg. Large mirror on wall could have been backlit and would have made massive difference as would working extractor fan). Unused space along wall under tv was entirely wasted space - could have been used for in-built furniture for folded clothing, etc

The breakfast was excellent, good selection of cold and hot options. The new restaurant CanBe was excellent, amazing service with delicious food, we ate there twice during our 5 night stay!

Lovely rooms and location, excellent views from the rooftop. We also made use of the spa and pool both of which were very good
Unfortunately the service was patchy. Reception team couldn’t have been more helpful but we had a bizarre experience at the rooftop restaurant. We booked a table for our first night but despite arriving on time and being listed in their reservations they tried to offer as a table where we would have to move after half hour! This was despite the fact that there was a sea of free tables. We had to insist on being sat somewhere we could stay but were left feeling unwelcome and in the end stayed only an hour. It was such a shame as in most other respects this is a lovely hotel and most of the staff were excellent but it did put a dampener on our first night

The rooms were comfortable, reception area good with cava available, pool area nice but pool unheated.
The staff at the pool weren’t all friendly, service was extremely slow (up to 30 minutes just to order). The sauna was also not working and staff member didn’t really seem bothered or offer if it would be fixed.
