Set just off Barcelona’s famous Las Ramblas, 3 minutes’ walk from central Plaza Catalunya, Catalonia Ramblas 4* Sup features a seasonal outdoor pool with a south-facing terrace, a poolside snack bar and a chill-out area. Housed in a modernist building, all bright and spacious rooms come with a flat-screen satellite smart TV equipped with Chromecast App, free WiFi and tea and coffee facilities. Some have a private terrace with a private pool. Room service is available. The spa at Catalonia Ramblas 4* Sup features a relaxation area. It includes a sauna, a steam bath and a hot tub. Massage and beauty treatments are also available. The hotel’s restaurant, Pelai Restaurant, offers Catalan market cuisine. Dishes cooked on a coal stove are available at the Pelai terrace, a rooftop terrace with a chill-out area with panoramic city views. A buffet breakfast is offered every morning and, on weekends, it is available until 11:00. In the summer months, the terrace is open until 00:00 and has a summer menu, as well as cocktails and milkshakes.

Location
Service and hotel standards below four-star expectations The rooms were acceptable overall, but slightly below expectations. Unfortunately, the main issues were related to service, communication, maintenance and overall hospitality standards. Before arrival, we requested connecting rooms for our family stay. We were told the hotel would “do its best” but could not guarantee it. However, upon arrival, we were informed that the hotel does not have connecting rooms at all. This should have been communicated clearly from the beginning instead of creating false expectations. The only solution proposed was to place us in two separate rooms on the same floor, but at opposite ends of the corridor. Even though we were staying for a full week, no meaningful effort or alternative solution was offered afterward. The staff also asked the age of our children and suggested it was acceptable for them to stay alone. This is not a decision for hotel staff to make and felt completely inappropriate. Another staff member told my wife that she was on holiday and should smile, which again was unprofessional and unnecessary. Overall, the staff seemed to lack basic hospitality training and customer awareness. The breakfast offered a good variety of products, but the experience itself was disappointing. The breakfast room is located underground without windows, making it feel close and unpleasant. Service during breakfast was also inconsistent and below expectations for a four-star hotel. On the first day, when I asked for a cappuccino, I was told to get one myself from the machine, despite several staff members standing around chatting. Only later did someone eventually bring a proper cappuccino. The following day, I asked again and it took around 20 minutes to arrive, by which time I had already needed to leave. In addition, there were visible maintenance and hygiene concerns in the bathroom area.

Great location, close to Metro and everything else within the city. Rooms are ok, quite small but normal for Barcelona.
Bed is very lightweight, it moves while you turn around. The room is very noisy. You can hear voices from the neighbouring rooms and every little sound from the hotel corridor. Sound isolation is not a strength of Spanish architecture. Breakfast is ok, but way too expensive for what it is. Coffee is pretty bad!
