We loved our stay at Casa Mathilda. We were located on the second floor of a charming old building, close to 2 Metro stops, the Block of Discord, and La Sagrada Familia, in an upscale part of town. Our room was nice and quiet and opened onto a lovely terrace. We loved the self-serve coffee and filtered water, the vending machine, and the wonderful breakfast. The staff was very helpful and had a published list of their favorite nearby restaurants. We highly recommend it, it was a wonderful start to our Spain vacation.
I truly can't think of anything, it exceeded our expectations.

Incredible location, very convenient for visiting Barcelona landmarks.
Delicious breakfast food, complimentary coffee available all day.
Very kind and helpful staff.
The building’s vintage elevator is so cool!
Only trivial things:
Hairdryer in the room wasn’t very good.
While coffee was available all day, milk is only available during breakfast.
Breakfast is a bit later than we would’ve liked starting at 8:30 rather than the typical 7-7:30.

The staff and owner of Casa Mathilda were delightful, helpful and a joy to chat with. The breakfast offered many choices of fresh pastries, fruit, cheeses and meats. The private courtyard was a little oasis in a busy city! Highly recommend staying here.
