The location is excellent, just a few minutes away from the main spots of the houses by Gaudi. The area is relatively safe comparing to the Gothic are where I felt very uncomfortable to be stalked by strangers and got disturbed by strangers asking for money. I've browsed through reviews of various hotels that people got robbed inside hotels. I'd say that Alexandra Barcelona is safe, I didn't have any issues regarding robbery in the hotel. Staffs are friendly and helpful. If you are not expecting too much, I'd recommend this hotel for families and couples, its service meets the standard.
To me, safety is my priority, this hotel definitely is a great choice. But I'd advise tourists not to compare one city to another, Barcelona is a touristy city and lots of things are overpriced, I'd say that this hotel is a little bit overpriced, the room was clean, but the shower gel and shampoo weren't refilled in the bathroom, the headboard of the bed got a little bit stained, overall it's okay.

There were many faults with our room, and the walls and floor boards are EXTREMELY thin. You can hear exactly what’s going on in the next room.

The staff are exceptionally helpful, rooms are clean and comfortable and the location is perfect. We travel to Barcelona a few times a year and recently decided to try the Alexandra instead of our previous hotel. Needless to say the Alexandra is our new favourite. Love the vibe of the pool. Perfect for a morning of relaxation before hitting the sites or shops.
Nothing, if anything the aircon could be a be a little cooler in the warmer months.

Granted we stayed in August but even set at lowest temps the room was warm to sleep in at night. We weren’t there during that day so not sure if that was consistent but cooler at night would be nice.
