This is a privately owned room in one of those prison-like resorts on the Red Sea coast. The room itself was pleasant enough, but the dishes weren't clean (and no dish soap was provided) and the rest of the cleaning was haphazard. I thought this odd considering all of the cleaning equipment they left cluttering the bathroom. The smell of mould was explained by the disintegrating drywall under the kitchen sink. The "meal plan" prices quoted in the Booking.com ad are half of what they actually cost when you go to the buffet restaurant. The nearest markets that don't sell food at triple its value are a one-hour walk away, although microbuses and the mafia taxi are easily hailed. In addition to the price advertised on Booking.com you will also be charged € 4.50 for the resort's security ID bracelet. If you want wifi you will have to pay an extra € 19.42 at an Orange dealer you'll have to visit in either El Gouna or Hurghada, and then curse the very poor wifi signal in the room. The tourist resort strip for kilometres surrounding your resort are reminiscent of a zombie apocalypse movie with permanently halted construction or abandoned ruins of resorts with sad names like "Romance Beach". When added up, the cost is too high for what you are getting.
