We (2 adults, 2 kids 5&8) went on a February vacation to Pickalbatros Palace.
I was expecting not much, I heard a lot about the hygiene standards are below bar, personal safety might be a problem, the water might be too cold to swim and the 5-stars are more like 3 stars.
What actually happened:
1. The hotel is super safe, the staff extremely welcoming, attentive, I would leave my kids alone at the pool without hesitation.
2. We had zero issues with water/food (but stayed away from anything raw and unpeeled and had no ice cubes, but we had ice-cream, a lot). We also ate the seafood, no issues. Water bottles are given out all the time everywhere.
3. The pools are partly heated, the kids can stay in the pool all day long if they want. We might have been lucky with the weather, it was 23-27° sunny every single day and we also went two times for snorkeling with a get-your-guide-tour. The sea was not super warm, but definitely swimmable.
4. The hotel, despite overbooked, never felt really full, there was always plenty of staff to bring drinks, plenty of empty sun beds etc. Only during peak lunchtime the main restaurants felt a bit crowded, and that's about as crowded as it gets I assume.
5. The drinks and the food is okay for a 5-star all-inclusive offering. It's not wow, don't get me wrong, there are changing items every day and the offer is plenty, but its more like a large canteen. There are 7 Restaurants with similar food items despite themed differently. Obviously, you won't get really good branded alcohol, just weird no-name or whitelabeled stuff and bland wine.
6. The WiFi is working, although extremely slow. Enough for Instagram, on the very lower end for real Work from Home or for video meetings.
7. The rooms are definitely a bit dated, but well maintained.
If you look for negatives, it depends what you expect. If you come in expecting the same service as in the Rosewood Hong Kong you probably are a bit disappointed.
I'm really scrambling finding anything negative: The hotel is really top of the line for the money you get, as long as you don't expect branded alcohol, a personal butler and super fast WiFi. The only thing that would make the stay a bit less worrysome for arrivals: a free hotel shuttle. Take an uber. It should cost you about 200 Egyptian Pounds (or 5€). Forget the rest.

It was a good experience from start to end. Luckily the weather was good. You may even swim in the sea.
We waited for check in for an hour but just to note we arrived there early around 11am. They took us to our room once it is ready. So we checked in early. They also offered a free room upgrade during check in, which was really nice.
A clean, comfy hotel with a heated pool, aquapark and several facilities. Surfing activity was fun for kids and adults.
Asmaa and all hotel staff were friendly and supportive. Thanks to everyone.
A la carte restaurants... Moroccan is recommended. As part of the culture, you may or may not find foods spicy but they were delicious.

Exceptional stay!
Everything was beyond excellent. The staff were extremely friendly, professional, and very helpful, handling any request quickly and efficiently. The service exceeded all expectations. The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and well maintained. The food and buffet were delicious with great variety and quality.

During our stay at Pickalbatros Palace Resort in Hurghada, we had an overall pleasant and enjoyable experience. Below is a detailed and honest review based on our stay:
1. Design & Architecture:
The hotel is very beautiful in terms of design, featuring elegant Moroccan-style architecture and visually stunning swimming pools.
2. Bakery & Café:
The hotel has a dedicated bakery and coffee shop offering a wide variety of delicious pastries, along with good-quality coffee and tea. This was one of the highlights of our stay.
3. Alcoholic Beverages:
Unfortunately, the quality of alcoholic beverages was very poor. All drinks were from local Egyptian brands, with no international or well-known brands available. The alcohol content was very low, and this aspect was a major disappointment and deserves a very negative rating.
4. Breakfast:
In terms of quantity and variety, breakfast was good. However, some basic items such as honey were missing. Overall acceptable, but with room for improvement.
5. Lunch & Dinner:
The food variety was sufficient, but the overall quality was quite low. There were only a few dishes that we found enjoyable. This part receives a negative score; however, the salad section was excellent, and we mainly relied on salads during our stay.
6. Beach:
The beach is beautiful, with very clear and attractive water. Beach facilities and sunbathing areas were excellent and well maintained.
7. Entertainment & Activities:
Hotel entertainment programs and live music were very good, and we truly enjoyed the atmosphere and activities.
8. Rooms & Staff:
Rooms were very clean, well-organized, and comfortable. The hotel staff were polite, professional, and very attentive, providing excellent service throughout our stay.
9. Aqua Park:
Due to the season we traveled, most of the pools in the aqua park were extremely cold and unusable. Only one pool had warm or lukewarm water and was suitable for use.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel and honestly enjoyed every single moment. Everything was perfect from the first day until check-out.

The rooms were very clean, spacious, and comfortable, and everything was well maintained.

Everything was excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always attentive. My children enjoyed the stay so much, and the atmosphere was very family-friendly. Great service, food and facility, clean beach and access to snorkeling easily from the property. Great bakery and the Christmas entertainment was actually quite nice. Lots of stuff to keep kids engaged. We had dedicated guest relationship POC (Asmaa) who was prompt and actually took care of multiple requests with a smile
Maybe smoking could be restricted to a few areas rather than across all common areas. Reduce the selling of additional services to maybe some dedicated counters rather than while relaxing at the pool.

Staff super friendly. Beautiful hotel and huge buffet selection. The staff helped us pick a room and do a late check out. The buffet and party for Christmas was awesome!! I never seen so many sweets at once
I think the juices could have been real juices. They seems to be from box. Drinks could use improvement but Egypt is not a place famous for drinking so i guess it makes sense.
