Plaza Grande Hotel is an absolute gem. The food and service were excellent from start to finish. The concierge went above and beyond—arranging seamless transportation to and from the airport and accommodating every request with genuine warmth and friendliness. The staff made us feel truly cared for, not just “checked in.”
And a must: don’t leave without trying the ice cream—it’s unexpectedly incredible

Both nights we were there they organized events at the ballroom until 1 am… music is very loud and goes right through to the rooms… I couldn’t sleep nor could our 8 month old baby

The staff was lovely. The hotel was old, charming, in the center of town. They organized an early-morning taxi and box breakfast. There was complementary wine and treats in the room. We enjoyed the pool table in the bar area. We LOVED this hotel and only wished to stay longer! We hope to return one day.
Our free drink tickets turned out not to be free. The bidet in our bathroom was out of order (which was a shame but not tragic). Our airport taxi claimed he could not go all the way to the hotel due to pedestrian streets. Not the hotel's fault, but this left us walking with heavy bags.

Very lovely hotel close to the center of the historic district of Quito. Wonderful staff, very accommodating for our needs. We had a travel delay causing us to arrive after midnight. The staff greeted us with fresh hot towels and a welcoming beverage. They also arranged for boxed breakfast to go when we had a very early tour pickup. Breakfast other mornings at the hotel was wonderful and plentiful.
As the hotel is next to the main plaza, it is a bit noisy. Church bells ring at 6am, so no sleeping in.

Amazing location on Plaza grande! Beautifully maintained from top to bottom. Our suite was amazing with a view of the Virgin on the Hill, and overlooking the plaza.
Honestly, I almost always have something negative to say about a property but in this case I could find nothing to complain about.

Right in the middle of Old Towne Square. Fixed us breakfast to take with us when we had an early morning departure before the restaurant opened. Restaurant at the hotel had best food around for not an expensive meal.

Excellent hotel in the heart of historic Quito. Customer service was outstanding on every level. Very comfortable room. Excellent restaurant with fabulous breakfast menu. Location is fantastic close to everything that matters in Quito and right next to the Presidential Palace

The hotel is a stone's throw from the main plaza. The service and staff are really excellent. Close to museums and major attractions of Quito. Great place to spend a few days in and get to know the city. It is a 40-minute drive to a museum of the equator, which is really interesting and fun.

It is hard to summarize the incredibly wonderful stay we had at the Plaza Grande in Quito but I will try. To start, my wife and I had been traveling all over South America and were literally worn out by the time we reached the Quito airport via flight from Santiago. Our Uber driver was amazing as we slept on the drive from the airport to the hotel. Upon arrival at the Plaza near the hotel, our driver quickly became panic stricken gave us our bags and bid us adios. As it turned out, the President of Ecuador and his 10 car entourage were approaching our corner of the Plaza. We moved our bags aside, waved to the President and walked the few steps to the Hotel.
Seeing us approaching the hotel, Richard ran to us, grabbed our bags and welcomed us to hotel. We were greeted with warm wash clothes and complimentary drinks. From that point on, the Staff treated as if we were the President and first lady (literally). Business and pleasure travel have taken us all over the world and only on one other occasion have we been treated so royally (Le Grand Hotel in Cabourg, France).
Many people told us the 2 places to stay in Quito were Plaza Grande and the Casa Gangotena. They were wrong. The Plaza Grande is THE place to stay. Rooms are large and beautiful. Our view of the Plaza was breathtaking (btw the Plaza quiets down at night). The bathrooms are massive and every extra you can think of is available in the room. Complimentary wine and chocolates along with an Espresso machine and on and on. The day trip guide the hotel suggested was also amazing and our exploration of the volcanoes were epic. As an aside, the Plaza Grande is possibly the safest hotel in the world as the Palace next door has 24 hours armed guards. A bonus.
If you take one major trip this year; visit Ecuador. Spend at least 3 nights in Quito at the Plaza Grande; take day trips to the volcanoes and other sites and (we didn't have the time) go to the Galapagos Islands. It will be the trip of a lifetime.
There was literally nothing we didn't like about the Plaza Grande.

The rooms were large
The property was on the corner of the presidential Square and unfortunately surrounded by police and arm guards. The square was completely deserted from dark and did not feel very safe although in the daytime it felt very safe. The beds are very hard which is not my choice.

Excellent location in the Grand Square and easy access to all points in the Old town. A hotel with old charm and and lovely staff.
A very minor gripe ordered scambeled eggs got an omlette probably i need to improve my Spanosh.
