Very Poor
This is not the hostal you will stay at its under renovations and the owner dropped me off at another hostal called La rosario. The owner is really nice however when you look online the hostel she dropped was half the price if you booked directly with them. PLEASE BE AWARE your getting ripped off

I loved the kindness and friendliness of the staff. They helped me book an airport transfer who was great also. They offer a free, delicious, generous breakfast that you eat on their rooftop overlooking gorgeous historic Quito and the mountaintops.

Easy to access. Fernanda and the staff were fantastic.
Unfortunately CarpeDM was undergoing renovations so they are operating out of a different hotel. Hostel La Rosario. This wasn’t told to us in advance so it was very confusing. The place was very rundown, there was no communal area, and our private room had no fresh air and the bathroom was filled with black mold. We were hardly there, so it was fine (and Fernanda was wonderful) but the pics of CarpeDM looked like a fun, clean and vibrant hostel, and this was definitely not that. I wish Fernanda the best, but it should have been made clear that what we booked was not available at the time of our booking. I would love to stay at CarpeDM, but I would not stay at hostel la Rosario again.

The best thing about the Hostal is Fher, our host. She did everything to make us comfortable and helped
Is with all our questions, tours etc. Further, our room was oké, clean, but a bit on the small side. Matras was good.
It was really noisy. Not from the inside, but from outside. I know that the hostal can not help this, but we had to sleep with earplugs.

Excellent hostel near the historic center! The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. They booked tours for me. The room was good, tasty breakfast. I recommend it for all travelers.

I loved everything about Carpe DM ! ! My room was wonderful. The location is great. The staff were the friendliest and most helpful I’ve met anywhere. Sitting over the wonderful breakfasts Lucia made for was made even better by the great fellow guests. Fernanda, the owner, was always there to help and give advice about anything.
AND don’t believe what you hear. I could not have felt more safe. The locals on the street were friendly and helpful too.

Disappointing
Not as advertised. They decided to move into a new location. The temporary building was loud and without privacy. Room was tiny we could barely move around. We could not have a conversation without folks in the communal space hearing every word.
Manager was friendly and helpful regarding restaurants and sites to visit.

It is a super clean place with good wifi and good beds. They offer a lot of incredible tours and Fernanda was so helpful during my stay. If I visit Ecuador again, this is my place to stay in Quito.

great location in center of Quito. great place comfortable magnificent staff very clean and nice. offers airport transfer which is a big plus. great breakfast. wifi works excellent 24 hours per day which is very important. the employees are always available to assist. a special recognition to the staff for a very clean hotel and an excellent breakfast. I think its hard to surpass the level of quality and value.

Great location. Fernanda was helpful. The bed was comfortable and the blankets were cozy. The curtains were almost black out so I got some sleep! The kitchen views were fantastic.
The shower was a little small but got the job done.

My husband and I and our two twenty something kids stayed her on our way to/from the Galapagos. We got 3 rooms and had 3 bathrooms all for $75. The rooms are clean, towels are provided and there is a tv in each room. We had the bfast one morning and it was plenty of food (and coffee!), especially for $4. Fernandina is very helpful and speaks English very well. She was very accommodating of our coming and going and quick to respond to emails or texts on Whats app
The hostel is about 50 min from the airport, so not super convenient if you have a quick turn around. As Quito is a city, there are street noises that you can hear throughout the night. Probably would have this just about anywhere you stay in the area.
