Location is ok
The whole place has no Ventilation or windows,, the room I was in had no ventilation or windows , during the night it felt like a sauna, the so called aircon sounded like a broken train motor, when I requested for a fan, owner got angry and tried to gaslight me/intimidate me into saying the aircon noise was ok, it was horrendous noise and the aircon didn't cool at all. It's one of those old noisy models probably refurbished, and didn't even cool. Some of the walls of the place are made of plywood and there is a formaldehyde smell all over the unventilated installations. Its a very toxic smell, I dnt recommend this place. Ur health will be affected, and the formaldehyde smell stays on your clothes, it's awful. Never again.

Friendly host and staff, clean bathrooms, well equipped room, multiple plugs near the beds, wardrobe, and bedside lamp. Strong fan and ventilation fan made up for the lack of a window in the room. We were brought a fresh plate of fruit while eating our take out dinner :)
We paid for laundry and while it was clean- it came back smelling like dinner, assuming it was air dried near the kitchen. I think we should have asked for it to be machine dried. The kitchen had cooking utensils, but spoons and forks seemed to be absent. Sheets were well worn, and maybe time to be replaced.

This was our second stay, as we really liked the place first time round. Maria was really helpful, sharing with us advice on things to do around Guayaquil and some tips for visiting the Galapagos. She even helped us organise our onward journey to Peru! Since we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome. They offered us lemonade and some delicious homemade snacks. The place was always clean and the location is great for the airport / bus terminal. Plus there is a cosy terrace on the top floor which a great spot to hang out! Overall a fantastic stay. Thank you Maria!

They are kind. The common space is comfy. The outside is residential and felt very safe and quiet.
The room was changed to a larger room with private bath for the double booking, but my room did not have hot shower.

We stayed in Villa Maria during the recent strikes in Ecuador, and Maria and her family couldnt have been more helpful in trying to get us to where we wanted to go. They rang bus companies and kept us informed of the news with regard to roadblocks. Truly amazing hosts!
The communal area and kitchen are very small. Not very social.
