**Amazing one-night stay that turned into two! Highly recommend Casa Michael in Guayaquil ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐**
I stayed at **Casa Michael** for what was supposed to be just one night, but I ended up rebooking immediately because I loved it so much.
The place feels more like a home than a hostel. The atmosphere is super relaxed and welcoming – I had some of the best conversations with fellow travelers and the people there. Everyone was genuinely nice and friendly, which made my short stay in Guayaquil really enjoyable.
I slept incredibly well; the bed was comfortable and the room was quiet despite being in a convenient part of the city. The surrounding area in Alborada is excellent – plenty of shops, places to eat, and everything you need for essentials within easy walking distance. It also felt safe and calm.
A special shoutout to the staff, especially **Vanessa** – she was fantastic, helpful, and made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The whole team clearly puts a lot of care into making guests feel welcome.
The only tiny thing missing (in my opinion) is a jacuzzi to relax even more after a long day of traveling – but honestly, that’s a small suggestion and doesn’t take away from how great the experience was overall.
If you’re passing through Guayaquil, whether for one night or more, definitely stay here. I’d come back in a heartbeat!

Feel free to copy-paste it as is, or let me know if you want a shorter version, a more formal tone, or any small changes. Enjoyed your stay, Michael! Sounds like a lovely spot. ?
The German people there were unfriendly .. especially one that yelled at the staff and talked down on Jews and Americans.. But luckily there was an Israeli Grandmother staying there names Sela who helped make peace.. as she did negotiations with Arabs.

Good
Comfy bed in private room and had a kitchen. Just a 20 min walk to/from the airport.
The neighbourhood is gated and is very confusing to navigate. Are the gates locked? Why can’t you enter through some? It’s confusing.

Fair
The neighbourhood was quiet, with a nice tranquil park situated right in front of the house.
There was a gym and many restaurants along the main avenue, three blocks away.
Their wireless Internet connection worked rather well.
The "manager" allowed some guy to check in and enter the room at 06:00 (AM), despite its policy declared on Booking as check-ins only between 14:00 and 21:30. As is typical in this continent, he turned on the light and started making noise, completely disregarding any respect for the "quiet time" as also declared in various signs posted around the facility. Later that morning, when I brought this to the attention of the "manager" she did not care much at all, and responded with some excuse like that she did not want to leave him waiting in reception until 14:00 to check in. This would have been unacceptable in any other hostel where I have stayed.
Their volunteer employee was not friendly and just spent all day watching videos and playing video games on his phone with loud volume.
The bathrooms did not have proper ventilation, which caused them to be incessantly humid all the time.
The house is located along a pedestrian walkway, not exactly easily accessible by car (taxi).
The room had a window, but did not provide good ventilation to air from the outside.
According to locals the neighbourhood is questionable in terms of safety.
The location is far from the city center or main attractions.
Hardly a welcoming or pleasant experience.

Good for airport
Not a comfy stay, it’s fine if headed to the airport but that’s about it.

Very Good
Close to bus terminal and airport got a short stay. Area is very safe, large grocery store nearby
The dorm room is right in the lobby/reception area and was difficult to sleep due to the noise of the woman playing on her phone until midnight, and people ringing the bell at early hours of the morning. Not ideal when you have an early flight and want to get a good nights rest. AC was weak and hot to sleep, with no windows in the dorm room

Good
Good location near the airport. They have storage service if you want to go to Galápagos Islands without taking all of your luggage.
The room that we ordered was flooded the day before. They didn’t told us about that although they had my number and could text me through booking app. They told us about that incident only when we came to check-in.
They gave us a dorm room in the regular dorm room price, which I think wasn’t an appropriate compensation.

Not familiar with the city yet but the space is comfortable and the staff gladly calls the cabs to come to the hostal to take you to the bus terminal and airport, and no doubt wherever else you might want to go. Good value. Safe neighbourhood. Supermarket and many food stands at night about 10 minute walk from the hostal. Will stay again when I come through Guayaquil.

Located in secured neighbourhood with a small park opposite the property with trees & chirping birds. A sort walk to the supermarket, fast foods & shops. Straightforward check in with partly covered patio with table tennis table a star fruit tree surrounded with ornamental plants where for lounging or working. WiFi is working well. A well equipped kitchen. I was assigned in a 6 dorm bed with comfortable bed with aircon & valuable storage. Shared bathroom & hot water. Lucy & her assistant were helpful & friendly. And very good value for budget travelers. Highly recommended.
The only downside is you need to ring the bell to go in & out of the property but not a big hassle.

Staff were friendly and helpful.
Aircon in room.
Towel & soap provided.
No drinking water provided for guests.
Need hooks, rails etc in bathroom to put clothes, towels, toiletries etc while using shower.
Fridge in common kitchen does not seal properly. Items to be kept cold need to be in the freezer section - they don’t freeze, but get cold like they should in the fridge.
