Very close to the beach and the Caribe Tours bus terminal to the airport. Very helpful staff, room was clean, private, and in a lush tropical setting. Smoking allowed.
Bathroom window needs a curtain. Power went out during a storm.

Fair
They had a restaurant right next door and the location was like 4 mins walk to the beach
The pillows and blankets felt like they weren't washed they were sticky ,it was disgusting, the window were not to secure bugs easily got inside ,they didn't not charge through the website so we had to come up with the money on the spot which we were not informed of

The location:
Villa Mar Sosua is the hotel closest to the beach: one minute walk! Additionally, it's only 5 minutes from the Caribe Tours Station. The neighborhood is quiet and the hotel itself is a hidden gem!
The charm:
The place is rustic and that makes all its charm! Decorations are all made with natural materials like wood, shells and fabrics.
I'll definitely stay there again!
The bathroom towels are very used and need to be replaced

Leaving.
No air conditioning plus Dominican heat makes for a miserable stay. My fault for not fully reading the property description I guess, but there's really no excuse in this day and age, especially at this price point. A ceiling fan and a single open window just doesn't cut it. Air conditioning is not a luxury anymore. I don't know what those other great reviews are about, but they're certainly not for this place. Do yourself a favor and stay at a cabana if you need a place for the night.

I had a great stay at the Villa Mar Sousa. The check in was quick and easy. The room was clean and comfortable. Nice clean bathroom. Also, you have safe to store your valuables. However, the room had no A/C only a ceiling fan which you could adjust the speed. The lighting in the room is something that could be worked on. However, overall it was a good stay.
Lighting and no AC

Wonderful
I was so pleased with my experience at Villa Mar Sosua that I ended up staying twice more on my 3 week trip traveling around the DR! BEAUTIFUL property, cutely decorated rooms, and very kind staff. As a solo female traveler in the DR for my very first time, I was a bit nervous about safety - and I felt SO SAFE here on this property. Parking was easy, and they have a restaurant on site too (though I didn't end up getting to try it).
If you are a solo female traveler, I don't recommend being out & about in this area after dark. I definitely stood out as a white person & got quite a few looks as I was walking around, there aren't many tourists in the neighborhood (which personally I appreciated - it felt REAL to me in a way touristy areas don't). Also one of the beds I stayed in was pretty hard, but the others were great! The rooms are absolutely adorable.

Poor
Good location close to the Sosua beach, town within walking distance, private parking as advertised. The owner tries, at least.
Call it basic or rustic, it is on the cheap side, but this apartment (no. 7, floor level) was falling apart. Basement feeling, poor lightning, improvised and borderline dangerous electricity hanging everywhere, small refrigerator with a silly improvised hook to keep the doors closed. Both bathroom sinks clogged, the auxiliary bed was clearly unmade/used on arrival. A small router at the reception area provides slow wifi at the range of about 5m, not even close to the apartment area. Everything provided is improvised, just for the sake of being there and ticking the box, but hardly or not at all usable. Given the description of facilities provided and actual state of things, we felt cheated. Nobody checked us in, we were just given keys by a small girl. I can tell the crew was trying, even attempted some repairs without us complaining, cleaned the room, but still - renting this for money is in bad taste, I've seen potato storage in a better shape.

Good
There is no breakfast and no A/C. There's a little restaurant about 200 feet from the Villa and the fan works really good, in place of a A/C. Also no vending machines.
