Location.
Dusty floors and sink and bathtub goes down slowly. Dirty interior bathtub liner. Also, the fee changed to a higher rate if you use a credit card, please check your bill. If you pay in cash US dollars they will honor the quoted price.

They were nice, easy check in, even though it was 1 o’clock in the morning and I made the reservation by emergency 15 minutes before my arrival.
Comfortable rooms. Very spacious. The apartment has all you need to be comfortable.

I have known Hotel Shakey for a long time and the fact that I keep coming back says it all.The location is great, close to restaurants, a supermarket, convenient stores. The staff is ready to help the guests when you need it.

-room 502 "sea view" = 3rd floor, right in front of another hotel terrace, with workers who can see inside the apartment. You barely see the sea
-no place to sit on the balcony, too narrow
-destroyed sofa, you cannot sit on it. It needs replacement
-We had a leakage in the wc during the night
- Only our room had a water outage out of the blue. We had to report it, to have it fixed

Nice, friendly staff working at the front desk and housekeeping! Great ocean view and city view from the balcony! Good location - short drive to colonial zone!
Unfortunately, there is no on-site restaurant at this hotel, but there is a great restaurant named Villar Hermanos that is only a short walk away. Also, there is no AC unit in the living room area, but there is a fan. Lastly, there is no television in the living room area, but there is a television in the bedroom.

Specious, light, well equipped apartment with extraordinary views. Air condition works great in the bedroom. Bed is comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped. Towels are cotton with good absorbance. House cleaning does a great job each day. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Near to some good restaurants and at walking distance to Colonial Zone.
Near to rather busy street. Would be great to have AC unit in livingroom as well.

Hotel Shakey is close to restaurants, a supermarket. If you want to take public transportation to Zona Colonial, you just walk up to the street and you can find public taxis. The staff is great, they'll help you if you need assistance.

Big rooms, great for 2 friends in separate rooms, could fill up on as much cold water as we needed

I liked the size of the room, comfy bed, nice kitchen with almost everything we needed. Housekeeping every day. Excellent front desk personnel.
No microwave is available in the kitchen, and I would have liked to wash and dry my clothes in the building.

Very nice hotel near the old part of the city. Clean, large appartment with seperate sitting area and bedroom. 2 toilets. Small balcony with sea view.
For later checkout they wanted to charge 60 USD even though the hotel was far from full. For that amount one can go to the spa of adjacent big hotels.

Location was good.. The Apartment Hotel was clean and well managed For a sea view you need to be on the 5 or 6th floor . The owner has the 7th floor and is on site . The staff were delightful.
The seaview ( Rm 502) has x1 bedroom & overlooks the sitting and lounging area adjacent to the pool of the Crowne Plaza Hotel before the sea which was okay. Lots of restaurants close by and used by the locals
The boardwalk is 7-8 Km long and wheelchair friendly. They are slowly gentrifying the Colonial area and making it mobility friendly
Santo Domingo (SD) has a lot of traffic which is noisy and always Tooting their horns for awareness. The Dominican Republic (DR) has a garbage problem in general and SD is not the exception. The tides bring a lot of broken up plastics and their are groups that do Volunteer cleaning .
To cross the busy roads in area where there are a dearth of traffic light and Zebra crossings one has to be prepared to Jaywalk and put your hand up to stop the traffic . We were there for a month. Most tourists would see what the wanted in 2-3 days
SD was more expensive than Spain for eating & drinking.
