Location
We got a room at the 18th floor. They have a panoramic elevator. I have fear of heights. Now that never has been a problem since in any other ocasión I just used the service elevator. In this case the stuff was literally lying. First they said there is no service elevator, then it is out of service, then I can’t use it because their policy. They also didn’t offer any lower floor.

They overbooked the reservations. I arrived late at night and they had no rooms available. I had to move to a more expensive hotel at midnight.

We stayed at the Riu Panama City and that was what we expected. Staff was good, however, could not break DR currency(anywhere in hotel). Location is on ocean but outside the historic center so it was $10 to shuttle . We entered another nice hotel in the colonial zone which was $50 night cheaper and walk around everything. The room had peeling wallpaper and was bottle of water under bed. Breakfast was good.
For the price, the hotel did not meet the standards. Would not recommend and would recommend 3 nice ones in colonial zone. They send copious emails begging for business, which would be better served pleasing those who chose to stay there.

There was no water in the bathroom. Had to call front desk two times. One time no hot water. Not even basic toiletries such as tooth paste and brush were in the room.
