Disappointing
First the amount charged by the hotel upon our arrival was higher that the price we paid via booking.com as
Advertised. When challenged at the hotel they said they could not do anything
In addition we stayed in room 108 which was the last room at the end of hallway which was next to the exterior door where the big air conditioning unit was installed which means that we had continuous high level of noise which was very annoying. Only one window very high and small which met no emergency exit in case of fire.
Also the water wipe made a pitch noise every 10 minutes for 10-15 seconds. All of that made for a very restless night! Could not send a video including the noise.
This room should not be advertised on booking.com
We have booked many hotels with booking.com and this the first time that we had to pay over than the price advertised.

What I like about Cataleya is how peaceful it feels. The location is great and everything is always clean.
One thing I am not comfortable with Cataleya is that they only provide two pillows on the bed. I usually sleep better with an extra pillo between my knee, in addition to the one on my head.

This is a wonderful hotel in almost every respect. It is located near the core of the old town and many tourist attractions. It is spotlessly clean. The front desk is continuously staffed by an extremely attentive, knowledgeable and responsive staff, most of whom apparently speak at least some English. There is a pleasant lobby with free coffee in the morning. My request for a quiet room was more than satisfied. Although windowless, my interior room was blessedly free of the motorcycle noise and loud music that plagued me in other DR hotels.
My first shower was fine, but the water temperature for the second (10PM) barely reached lukewarm. The free breakfast is at a restaurant on the main square, a five to ten minute walk from the hotel. The breakfast is ordered from a menu with a good variety of choices and was fine; however, this arrangement would be less appealing on rainy days or for those with mobility limitations.

Located in a great area of Zona Colonial. Everything was walking distance. Place was clean, secure, well lit. Staff is very helpful.
Inside Door to the room needs a knob. Would help with cooling the room . Put in a shower head. Hate the shower extension. Defeats the purpose. Wets the outside of the bathroom floor. Fix bathroom door.

Cataleya is a true boutique hotel gem.
We stayed here in transit when arriving in the Dominican Republic, both at the beginning and the end of our vacation.
First stay: 3 nights in a Deluxe Room.
Second stay: 2 nights in a Standard Studio.
Check-in was very fast.
During our first stay we were on the third floor, and on the second stay on the first floor. I actually loved that neither of the two rooms had windows (contrary to some other reviews), because it was extremely quiet and we couldn’t hear anything from outside. We were able to sleep through the night without any street noise.
Breakfast, available on the corner, was good.
Fast internet.
The shower water did not get hot enough.
No elevators, which was a bit inconvenient with the luggage.
Complimentary water is only provided on the first day.
