The staff was very friendly and respectful. They were able to ensure I had a pleasant stay. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The location was also very convenient and made the experience very enjoyable.

Quiet overall and very nice location. Good breakfast but was unable to use it most days as it started late for me. Would have been nice having early option available. Sheets clean.
Breakfast was nice but started late most days for me as I had to leave at 7 AM for work related activities. Bathroom wasn’t very clean and zero hot water was very disappointing. No shampoo. Would have been nice to have a blanket at night. Strange that no one cleaned room except bringing new towels

Amazingly friendly staff, great breakfast, good location!
The breakfast is not on site of the property, it’s about a 5 minute walk away to Parque Colon (the restaurant is La Marchanta) but the staff there are very pleasant, it’s a convenient location, and it gets you out of the hotel early and sightseeing early. Completely makes sense from the hotel’s point of view to not need a kitchen space, cooks, etc.

Easy accessible to everything and everywhere in Santo Domingo.
We checked in on Saturday, April 4th, 2026. On Sunday, April 5th, 2026, we left the premises around 10 a.m., but didn't return until about 2 pm. When we entered the room, we found out that it wasn't clean as of yet. We then went out again, didn't return until 5 pm to still a dirty room. It wasn't until we complained to the front desk that finally the room was cleaned.

Convenient, housekeeping was great, breakfast good.
A/C was only in one room, the other room stayed hot all the time. Room near the street was very noisy, even at night.

Great location closed to city center but far enough (2min walk) from the man noisy area. Fantastic staff, super clan, large room, good price-value.
Hotel has a deal for breakfast with a local place in the main square, 2-3 min walk. Service there can improve and food was okay.

Disappointing
First the amount charged by the hotel upon our arrival was higher that the price we paid via booking.com as
Advertised. When challenged at the hotel they said they could not do anything
In addition we stayed in room 108 which was the last room at the end of hallway which was next to the exterior door where the big air conditioning unit was installed which means that we had continuous high level of noise which was very annoying. Only one window very high and small which met no emergency exit in case of fire.
Also the water wipe made a pitch noise every 10 minutes for 10-15 seconds. All of that made for a very restless night! Could not send a video including the noise.
This room should not be advertised on booking.com
We have booked many hotels with booking.com and this the first time that we had to pay over than the price advertised.

What I like about Cataleya is how peaceful it feels. The location is great and everything is always clean.
One thing I am not comfortable with Cataleya is that they only provide two pillows on the bed. I usually sleep better with an extra pillo between my knee, in addition to the one on my head.

This is a wonderful hotel in almost every respect. It is located near the core of the old town and many tourist attractions. It is spotlessly clean. The front desk is continuously staffed by an extremely attentive, knowledgeable and responsive staff, most of whom apparently speak at least some English. There is a pleasant lobby with free coffee in the morning. My request for a quiet room was more than satisfied. Although windowless, my interior room was blessedly free of the motorcycle noise and loud music that plagued me in other DR hotels.
My first shower was fine, but the water temperature for the second (10PM) barely reached lukewarm. The free breakfast is at a restaurant on the main square, a five to ten minute walk from the hotel. The breakfast is ordered from a menu with a good variety of choices and was fine; however, this arrangement would be less appealing on rainy days or for those with mobility limitations.
