Location is perfectly central, 10 minutes from the Santo Domingo Cathedral, easy to navigate the city center from there.
Unfortunately, the staff is not really helpful, so you should Google information if you want to go around, and don't try to book an airport transfer via them, they do not offer the service.
Breakfast is just okay, not great, not too bad; quite disappointing for a 4 - star hotel. Additionally, the rooms are not very well insulated, so there's quite a bit of noise coming in, especially in the morning when there is breakfast..

Checkout procedures. They charged me for water that wasn’t labeled for purchase. I also waited in line for a long time while the staff was on the phone and when another staff arrived, they helped the people in line behind me.

The staff were always friendly and attentive.
The bathroom is so small all the shower water flows into the bathroom floor. The beds were very stiff. The whole room had scratched and dirty looking tile. The cabinet in the room was scratched up. Not a good experience.

The hotel stands out on the street because of its pristine restoration. The location was perfect for exploring the colonial zone. Near excellent restaurants but also quiet at night. The buffet breakfast was served on the 4th floor terrace and it did not disappoint. While the buffet was self serve, the servers were excellent serving coffee and keeping our table cleared. We were also allowed to linger which was great. Our room was seeped in history and had a lovely balcony that looked over the corner. Both the bed and AC were wonderful. A shout out to Carmella who checked us in and managed our stay. A wonderful first impression when arriving after a long day of travel.
Mostly we enjoyed the entire experience at the Grand Europa. The service at the Sky bar was not very attentive and could be improved. Often if you're meeting at the hotel bar for a quick drink before venturing out for dinner, you don't wan to wait 20 minutes for service.

A nicely renovated classic building in a superb location. The roof top terrace is wonderful.
The staff was generally very good, especially during check-in and breakfast service. The staff at Sky Europa could have been more attentive.

The room is clean and the bathroom is big. The staff was really nice and helpful. The proximity to downtown is a big plus, you can do everything walking from the hotel.
The Continental breakfast on the terrace is really nice. Not too many choices but overall ok for 3 nights.
The rooftop/bar is very nice to take a drink, dine or read in the couch (though there is always some kind of music that can be loud at times). There is friday night karaoké which we didn't expect and were not too fond of while having dinner on the terrace.
AC worked well as well as wifi.
Nice parking garage for your car.
The street noise can wake you up earlier than what you want. Streets are very lively in DR with music, barking dogs, and roosters early in the morning...

The location is excellent and the staff exceedingly helpful and kind. Omar at the front desk made me feel so very welcome. The hotel overall was a little more ... not so much rundown, but tired looking. However, the parking was very secure, the room clean, and it was a decent value for the money.

perfect location--right in the heart of the old town. I could walk to all restaurants, museums and stores. The room had a mini-fridge and coffee maker. The breakfast was fabulous, on a beautiful roof top. It had an historic aesthetic, but everything was fresh and clean

Fantastic location can walk around and see everything really easy
The doors are paper thin so when people come out, you can hear everybody speaking. The air-conditioning makes a beeping sound, and you can hear every single beeping sound when people adjust their air condition.
