It was a beautiful lobby and friendly staff
I asked for a room with two beds but they gave me a single queen and had to move the next day . Both rooms were very small with no place to put your suitcases. No one told me that we had to use the keys to get the lights and TV to go on. The twin beds were uncomfortable an the bathrooms were small. It's an old hotel so I guess I should have known better.

Breakfast even if not very varied, was alright.
I did not get the booked "1 queen size bed", I got 2 single beds pushed together with a gap in the middle. The shower area was too small, water pooled around the toilet, making it basically unusable without some cleaning after each shower.

Phoenix Copenhagen is in a great spot, close to historical sites and popular places to have fun. There were a lot of choices for breakfast, and it was very good.

Very Good
Breakfast was lovely - good choices. Very similar to other European hotels. The hotel is located well - near the Nyhaven, very walkable to the metro. That said, it's set back a couple of blocks so I don't think it is overrun with tourists headed for either of those. I chose it because it was near Nyhaven and because the M2 line runs through the nearby Metro stop. The M2 runs to the airport and I had a mid-day flight, so it was easy to get up, have a nice long breakfast and head out to the airport. My room looked over an interior courtyard - very lovely.
The price was a touch high for the room and the season. I had the impression at booking that breakfast was included. It was not. It should have been and certainly impacted my sense of the value received. The staff were very very kind, professional and deliver services in a quiet elegant manner.

The hotel is old. The room had a very strong smell of old carpet. I had to change rooms because I could not stand the smell and I could not sleep. The other room did not smell as bad. But the it did have that stale old smell. For this reason, I do not recommend this hotel.
They should renovate and fresh up this hotel.

Room: 12- 15ft. high ceilings; great color palette. Breakfast was perfect - mix of everything. Usually got there early - few people - and when the number increased, all were quiet and reserved. Peaceful ambiance. Location was ideal; short walk to Nyhavn and the other adjoining canals and bridges. The streets behind the hotel also had excellent restaurants. I was especially pleased with my evenings at the Hugo Restaurant located at the lower level of the hotel; the server remembered my wine selection, helped with main course selection - and treated me like a favorite cousin. Went back twice. Service was excellent. At a short walk from the hotel, Heliconia Flowers on Gothersgada delivered the flowers - and they looked great - and perfumed the room for a week.
...it's not the fault of the hotel - but there was one weekend night the bar down the street seemed to take over the neighborhood with racket. It was only the one night - and upon inquiry the following morning, the hotel reception shared with me that they had contacted the authorities in the past about this - but, well - we know how "enforcement of laws" seems to be fairing these days!

The view from the window was good.
Rooms were really small and outdated. The bed style replaces only the top bedding, thus your skin will touch the part of the bed which is not washed. The bathroom was flooding. Coffee machine was not working. No complimentary water bottles provided. The safe was closed but as we were just staying one night, we didn’t bother complaining.
