Very Good
Breakfast was so beautiful. It was not served by the hotel itself but by the partnered cafe in front of the hotel. Located in the center of the old town. Good view from the window. Owner lady was frank and kind. You can have good dinner at the restaurant on the ground floor. Cost effective.
It is not hotel but vacation rental flat on upstairs of the restaurant. No hotel-like service was not expected. Ower lady was very kind but was not English speaker. Non-German speakers need google translator. Local big witch dolls are displayed in front of the room on the 3rd floor. It made me scared every time when I terned on the light...

Lovely old building in the centre of the town right by the market place, but less than ten minutes walk from the station. An inn with rooms.
Room was on the top floor, so 40 stairs up. No toiletries provided.

Exceptional
Great location in centre of historic town, close to all facilities, Harz and mainline railway stations. The suite was spacious and homely. Great restaurant with range of wholesome options and drinks. Staff very attentive, Buffet breakfast available at fantastic home bakery with plenty to choose from and seats inside and out. BIG thanks to all of the teams.

The location is good and the apartment spacious.

Check in was deeply unpleasant. The impression given was that we were simply a nuisance and were interrupting the running of the restaurant. The woman sighed when I said in German that we had come to check in. Despite speaking some German, no attempt was made to communicate with me. Asides were made to other staff about us.
On one day the restaurant was closed and the building locked up. When we came down in the morning the back door was locked. Fortunately I had heard the woman explaining to a German guest that we need to use the back door which was locked by a key. Locking people in like that is a serious fire risk and is unacceptable. In the event of a fire escape would be very difficult.
Getting the WiFi code took an age as the woman served a German speaking guest over us.
On check out there was no one around so we had to leave the keys outside.
Overall this was the rudest reception that we have had anywhere. My wife asked about a fan (it was 36 c), she was laughed at and then ignored.
The impression was that unless we were able to speak fluent German then they simply couldn't be bothered. I recommend avoiding this place.

Wonderful
Good location, friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. Nice fresh clean apartment, comfy bed and good WiFi. Breakfast in cafe across street very good too.
Weekend stay so quite a few noisy people on the street in the early hours.
Quite a few stairs which was not a problem for me.
