This traditional hotel, dating from the end of the 19th century, offers modern accommodations and great cuisine in the heart of Weimar. The Alt-Weimar was the original home of Rudolf Steiner, who founded the philosophy of anthroposophy. The hotel features the Art Nouveau lead glass windows and paneled walls of the original building, creating a historic, cozy atmosphere. The rooms are furnished in a modern, Bauhaus style and feature free WiFi The single/double rooms are spread over 3 floors. Due to the historic building, there is no elevator in Alt Weimar.

A quiet room not far from the town centre.
Having to walk 400 yards to the Erbenhof for breakfast, although I got used to it. It wouldn't have been much fun in the rain. (The hotel was unstaffed and there was no lift, although this didn't bother me personally.)

A short walk to the centre of town in a quiet neighbourhood
I didn’t travel to look at the inside of a hotel room, which was large and fairly basic; white with a centre light, just one framed poster leaving a lot of plain bare walls. A little bit of tarting up, would have made a difference.

we have been there 3 -4 times; we always stay at Alt-Weimar; excellent value for the price you pay. The rooms are not very big, but ok. Rooms are very clean, beds are good. Very close to city center.

Very good breakfast. Secure parking. Comfortable spacious room, goodbathroom.
No reception welcome, entry by door code. Shabby entrance and stairway. Breakfast was 400 metres away, Ok in good weather but not in the rain.

It was a place to spend the night. It was clean. Window opened up onto a nice green space.
Automated check-in machine was in a dark corner of the stairwell, difficult to see the keypad, didn't accept payment by telephone. Room was the equivalent of a dorm room.

The location of the hotel. The room was big enough.
We have stayed at this hotel five years ago and we are sorry to see that now the hotel is in decay, i.e. several parts in the bath room were loose. There was no electrical kettle. It was clear to us that on the whole maintenance was very poor.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location and the hotel is an important historic building in that Rudolph Steiner once lived there. Excellent continental breakfast.
It would be great that if I went back there would be at least one English TV channel.

The neighborhood was quiet, clean and pleasant. Even though there was a main road nearby, there was very little noise. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable.
