I stayed here as my flight has been cancelled and the initial hotel the airline sent me to was full! So, I made my own arrangements and I am so glad I found this hotel. It was like a little haven. The room was spacious, and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was delicious! And there is also a koi pond outside which I found very relaxing. The hotel is also situated a 20min walk from the S. Oliver outlet which was great as I needed to buy clothes appropriate for Germany weather. The parks in the area are also beautiful and Ratingen turned out to be a very pretty town. Dusseldorf by public transport is approx. 1 hour away (much, much closer by car).
It's not exactly that I didn't like it, more that I found it unique. The shower is sort of in the middle of the room. In the unlikely event the room's door is open and you are in the shower, people in the corridor will be ale to see you. (I have attached a photo)

It is not the fault of the hotel but the whole area is a non parking zone and apparently it is a
Business model of the municipality to tow away all cars in the middle of the night. In our case at least nine cars were town away. The hotel parking is way too small for all rooms. Luckily we woke up at 3:15 so that we could park our car on the hotel parking since there seemed to be a tiny spot there

We booked 1 month before arrival. Due some problems we checked-in a bit later, while we reserved the room with our creditcard. We arrived 2am in the morning. Says the reception: sorry we sold your room to someone else. We were asking why didnt we get notified?: he replies I dont know. This hotel has done this type of actions before as well. I have seen it in their reviews afterwards. Booking.com couldnt help us the hotel couldnt help us. I do not advise to visit this place. Nothing is secure here. Zero service, totally disrespectful for few euros.

I loved the hotel the staff were always friendly and their English fairly good. Breakfast which was included was amazing and mostly quite each morning which was nice. Room was flat and shower was walk in so that made for an easy accessible experience as a mobility Scooter user.
Restaurant was closed on Sundays was its quiet and I didn't realise groceries stores were closed on Sundays so that was tricky.

Japanese pond!
They didn't have our booking on the day we arrived. The room wasn't clean. They didn't clean our rooms for 3 days. We booked this hotel because it had free parking....we filtered our booking with booking.com to only show hotels with free parking... on day of our departure they asked us to pay 18..we told the lady at the reception that the parking was included in the price we paid, she refused to accept that our booking was with the parking included... we paid the 18 .. It got to the point that police were called we weren't allowed to leave...the lady at the reception stoped us from leaving the hotel. At one point we were told leave my hotel and never comeback, next she stoped us from leaving..she said to us that she is front office manager when we aaked her name to report her bad behaviour to the hotel head office. Very unprofessional of her, she shouldn't be working in hospitality at all.. A young man tried to de-esclat the situation and later apologised on behalf of the hotel... we don't recommend the hotel at all based on our bad experience....We won't be using booking.com either.
