We loved the location (walk to all of old town), the view, how clean it was, good breakfast, staff was friendly, comfy bed, and its the oldest hotel in Munich, right by the city gate from the 1300's.
The room #507 was small and hot (they brought us a fan and apologized). The blinds were not black-out. I booked the room because it is the oldest hotel in Munich, but the hotel has been redecorated over the years and doesn't have as much charm as other historic hotels (it felt like a German Howard Johnsons) so I felt a little tricked! It is indeed the oldest hotel in Munich, and there is some WWII history the hotel staff won't discuss (rightfully so, but our tour guide told us- no spoilers!)

What a beautiful hotel, comfortable rooms, very clean, with everything you need, great breakfast, the perfect location! The staff super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel, it makes visiting Munich easy!

This is a lovely hotel in a great location. The young lady who checked us in was very kind and changed our assigned room since it was ready to accommodate us arriving before check-in time, which we appreciated. We enjoyed the bar and sat both inside and on the patio. Very professional bartenders.
We did have an unfortunate encounter with the evening reception person which I tried to not impact my overall ratings but did effect our stay. After two weeks traveling through Germany and Switzerland, in the unexpected heat, we were excited about finally having a hotel with air conditioning since we stayed in small quaint and historic inns until we reached Munich. The room was fantastic when we arrived and unpacked enjoying the coolness of the room. We went to dinner and returned to a room that was hot. We had not touched the thermostat or opened the window. I called the front desk and explained exactly that to him. He responded back to me, are you speaking about the ac? I said it's hot so yes, I guess I am. He asked the typical questions and hesitantly sent up, "his colleague". I could tell then that it would not go well. The gentleman arrived quickly, came into the room, went straight to the window and felt the air which was cool coming out of the vent. He said, it's cool. I said yes, but the room is hot. He said do you want a new room? I said yes, if it can't be fixed. He went downstairs and came back and said we have a room down the hall. We had booked a superior room. As soon as I stepped into that room, I knew it was not the same category and I told him that it would not work, it was smaller and dark. He did not seem surprised in my response which spoke alot. He said I will return. I decided to go down myself to speed up the process and spoke to the man since the maintenance man had come up twice and actually admitted to me that the room was hot. We travel alot, many countries and within the US and I have never been spoken to like he spoke to me and so argumentative. He was placing the blame on us like we were not intellectual people. He made comments that it's summer and it's going to be warm. He didn't even listen to me that the room was cool when we arrived.

Staff were super friendly. Hotel beautifully appointed and location was central. Our room was quiet enough so we had no noise at night. I absolutely LOVE this hotel and will be back.

The staff is impeccable, very polite, and particularly helpful. The cleanliness is exemplary. The location is strategic.
The breakfast was good, but a hotel like Torbräu should offer better. It's a problem that the breakfast dishes remain the same every day, with no variation from one day to the next.

Location in center of Munich within walking distance of many sights.
We could hear our neighbors talking through the walls. Parking was expensive 24 Euros a day.

Torbrau is a fantastic hotel, 5 minutes walk from Marienplatz, with loads of bars and restaurants on the doorstep.
The rooms are big with everything you need - the complimentary soft drinks, beers and chocolates restocked daily in the fridge is a nice extra touch.
Breakfast is fresh and plentiful. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
This hotel is the perfect choice if you are planning a trip to the beautiful city of Munich.
No dislikes, everything was perfect.
