Excelsior by Geisel offers world-class accommodation and the chance to explore Munich on foot. Only 150 metres from the Hauptbahnhof, it is adjacent to a pedestrianed street that links to the focal Marienplatz. Rooms at the Excelsior by Geisel have a stylish layout with antique Bavarian touches. They are all equipped with free Wi-Fi, en-suite bathrooms with selected toiletries. Disappointing
Pros: 1. Central location -- close to the main train station 2. Most of the staff were nice and helpful. More info in the "Cons" section 3. We had issues with our two rooms. The hotel did try to make things right for the second night
Cons: 1. The young woman who checked us in was not friendly at all. She needs customer service training, or else shouldn't be working the front desk. 2. Our party had two rooms. We specifically asked for quiet rooms. One of the rooms was literally overlooking the nearby streetcar/tram stop. The trains ran continually, including all night. We basically got no sleep the first night. 3. The second room was supposed to have a king bed. It had a much smaller double bed. That room also had black mold in the bathroom and a musty smell. 4. The carpets in the rooms either need serious deep cleaning or replacement. Lots of stains on the carpets. To the credit of the hotel staff, they moved us to quiet rooms, and a room with a king bed, for the second night. They also gave us two free breakfast vouchers. I did request a refund of the first night for the noisy room, but they declined that request.

Property was clean, staff helpful and friendly. Very good location near the station and near Old town.
There was construction sites nearby, not fault of the hotel really but at night felt lonely walking by the streets that were all closes up.

The room was beautiful and spacious. The staff was friendly and very helpful. It is in a very central and convenient location. The breakfast was excellent, with many different options for different tastes and in a very nice and comfortable room.
The attached restaurant / wine-bar had a limited menu. Everything we did have from there was excellent, but the choice was quite limited.

This was our fifth stay at Excelsior by Geisel. We first chose it for its excellent location within walking distance of Marianplatz, great restaurants, beautiful churches, shopping and other tourist attractions. It is also very convenient to the train station. The hotel has an old world charm but modern conveniences as well. It is immaculate and serviced daily. I had a bad cold on this recent visit and spent most of my time in our hotel room. Our spacious, comfortable room with a lovely seating area where I made hot tea helped me feel pampered while not feeling well. The staff is prompt when you call for ice, extra towels, etc. We love this hotel. We can’t imagine staying anywhere else on future visits to Munich. Highly recommend.
