Offering a unique courtyard with a glass roof and simple accommodation, this hostel is in the Gaarten district of Kiel. In leafy surroundings, it is just half a mile from the Kiel Fjord. The compact dormitories at the Jugendherberge Kiel feature simple solid wood furniture and neutral décor. Guests share one bathroom between 2 dormitories, and these are in the hallway. A varied breakfast buffet is served in the lively breakfast room. Guests will also find a range of traditional German and international restaurants along the harbor. Attractions include the Old Botanical Garden and Kiel Castle, which are both less than 3 miles from the hostel. Visitors can also take a relaxing walk around the harbor and watch the boats sail by. The A215 highway is just 7 minutes from the hostel. Kiel Central Train Station offers a direct connection to Hamburg and is one mile away.

Very Good
Very good spread of options for breakfast. Very clean and as I am a vegetarian I felt very good to have so many options.

Not too far from the train station, although this hostel isn't in the hub of town, there's a quaint little village in the other direction
I didn't like booking a bed in a 4 bed dorm for 32.50 and having that price blown out to a massive 56!! 32.50 is quite expensive compared to other hostels I've booked. AFTER my booking had been accepted, I was then told that there would be a 3.30 charge for not being a member of their hostel, then another 5.50 for being over 27 years old. THEN as I went to pay, he said the cost was 52.50. When I queried this, he said it was because I had my own room. I didn't book my own room - I booked a dorm room. I travel solo so like the social aspect of dorm rooms. So, after having the price hiked to 52.50, he then charged me 56!! I'm NOT impressed!

Good location.
The property had no parking spaces for guests but was included while booking. Also there was no private bathroom but a shared bathroom. The amenities listed in booking didnt not match the reality. Very Disappointing experience.

The breakfast is better than I expected. I appreciate the Tute bag for take away fruit and drinks. The staff are very accomodating and friendly.
I don't like the idea of only 1 toilet for 8 guests. Very inconvenient. The locker and bed lamp can't be used because it was broken when i checked-in and wasn't fix during my stay.

The place is near the center and good ambiance...breakfast is ok
Doors are noisy(damaged), can't use the balcony, no toiletries (shampoo or soap) provided, no elevator.

Close downtown and to the port.
Coffee was atrocious and no croissants, but apart from this they served a nice breakfast. Also the shower could be improved.

The staff are racist to me because I am black , took extra money from me , also forcefully registered me as a club member, even went ahead sending the members card to my house address which I never requested for ..

The only one good thing was that the hotel was near the train station and also bus stations
I shared the room with 4 person and one of them was making noise at night so we me and the others couldn't sleep all night long, and I've had a test at the morning after so you can imagine how was my test ...
